Re: upgraded brakes

If your biggest issue is the brake dust, new rotors ain't going to help much. The oem rotors or other plain rotors are more than adequate unless you just want the look of slotted or cross drilled. If you must have the look, go with "dimpled" over true cross drilled to minimize the potential for road grit getting stuck in the holes and causing problems.

As for break dust, if you want pads with little to no dust stick with ceramic. The wagners that Scott mentioned are pretty good and cost about $65 for the front.

i would STRONGLY disagree. i have had 2 pairs onthe front of my XJ which has the painted 5.9 wheels. VERY LITTLE DUST. 1,000% better than OEM.

on my WK I have the ceramic and they are almost dustless.

the ceramic loses a bit but ZERO dust or rotor wear.

the HPS are a much better choice. dont grab as good as oem, almost. very little dust. very nice to rotors.

what s the goal - ultimate stopping - low dust - cheap price - easy on rotors -

once we knopw that, then can help with choices.

for rotors, i went with the DIMPLED & SLOTTED R1. Love the look. The finish. etc.

most use the cts-v pads on the rear of the srt8. various front pads. lotts of ggod feedback on stoptech?

Re: upgraded brakes

well, i am going to equal to better stopping power, and the look, of course. i dont mind losing a little bit of stopping, but i dont want to blow through the red light trying to stop.

i dont have a heavy foot, so losing a little bit of stopping power is ok for me. can you post a pic of your rotors? would you recommend hawks hps or ceramic with the R1 rotors?

Re: upgraded brakes

I had the hawk pads and so did robert palmer on the SRT brembos...they were very dusty. The wagner thermoquiets are about the same as stock as far as braking...but low dust

i have the Hawk Pro Ceramic on my wk. i would not recommend them.
I would recomment the HPS with the R1s. And of course I advise against fully drilled. either dimpled or slotted only.

Re: upgraded brakes

do you drive around in the dirt that much that you are so against drilled? i had a set of slotted and cross drilled on my trans am and i never had a problem. as for cracking, i cant say that i never heard of that, i guess it happens, but so does getting into a car accident

thanks for the pics though, i may still go dimpled anyway

Re: upgraded brakes

EBC Dimpled and slotted rotors and Wagner Thermo quiets all around is what i'm rockin' on my 99 WJ, medium dust and nice stopping power and still look good. Just my 2 cents.
