Re: What would it take to get under 15sec in the 1/4 mile?

Knew a guy with a tune and stall with 100 gas with his 4.7 and he ran 13's all day long

Here's a video of the 4.7 with 20's, superchips and exhaust. Temps were around 75-80* this day.. it ran a 16.6 on this run.

Do you think it was the wheels and heat that hurt it so bad? Did it have the stock intake also?

Yup, that is correct, I backed that 15.2 up at the track with the bone stock '05 Limited I had.

If I may I would like to give my input on this also. Yes, I believe he could have run a few tenths faster if the temps were in the negative DA or closer to sea level but I'm pretty sure the DA was a bit high that day. And yes the 20s should have play a factor on that also, maybe a tenth or 2 loss.

I believe my 4.7L WJ ran 15.5 with a 3" exhaust, high flow cat, superchips tune, larger Throttle Body by The Fastman, AIRAID intake and I think that's it. Keep in mind the WJ weights less. You might need some more work than what you have in mind but definitely not impossible.
Is a shot of nitrous a possibility or not? If yes, that would definitely get you there.
You might also want to run on a very cold day so the negative DA can help you also reach your goal.
Good luck.

Was this 15.6-7 from a WK 4.7L or a WJ? That seems pretty fast for a 4.7L WK, the ones I've seen at the track they are all in the 16s and even seen some in the 17s. I'm sorry if that's not what you want to read but I'm just stating what I've seen at the track when I race (it was summer too). I've also seen some 4.7L HO WJs on the 16s and high 15s.
Is there a link to this magazine article? I would like to read why since the WJ is lighter why would the WK be faster. I'm by no means doubting you since it's very much possible since the transmission and other components could have been change on the 4.7L WKs to make up for the weight difference.

I'm in the same path to get my WJ in the low 14s or high 15s but with regular bolt on mods I'm running out of options. The newer intake manifold is a possibility with a new tune as well.
Ohh and mine has a BB lift and larger tires to make it worst.

BTW, smaller diameter tires would definitely help you (and me) off the line, since that changes the gearing.

Definitely would like to see your WK running strong an that you can reach that goal.
Nothing is impossible, we just need a lot of money to get there.

LOL I just want to see some real time-slips of your 4.7 Scott.
No Superchips 1/4 mile times, I want to see video, paper time-slips and you with a helmet going down the track . Is this happening on 2010? I hope so...
No really, I want to see your jeep going down the 1/4 mile .

sorry mario....the track is not for me. I had several 11 second 3000GT/Stealths and I went one time....that was enough for me.
