Too bad the manufactures of aftermarket performance parts do not recognize the potential market of the 4.7

Re: Why do I like the 4.7L engine?

I just had to bump this post back from the past...

How many new 4.7L owners out there picking on HEMI's today... I know I was not the only one!

SPEED SAFE, NICK

I have a bit of fun when necessary, especially with the HO badges removed.

Re: Why do I like the 4.7L engine?

My 4.7 surprises alot of people! They dont give the motor respect. Im in the process of building another 4.7 but performance, hoping for around 350HP.

Re: Why do I like the 4.7L engine?

i must say after having a 4.7 in my old WJ, i will continue to stick with it- hence the 4.7 WK. i looked at the hemis when i bought my WK. but it was more than i needed. now over a year later and a few mods, she runs great and is very reliable. its amazing what a tune and s couple bolt-ons can do.

i recently took off my AFE intake(its for sale) and threw the stock airbox back on her. she still pulls hard and the autostick makes her even more of a blast.

Re: Why do I like the 4.7L engine?

I've owned my 08 4.7 WK for 13 months now... and i've enjoyed it everyday...

when i knew i was gonna get a WK.. i looked at a handful in my area.. most of them being 3.7s.. and i was totally not pleased with them.. unresponsive and uneasy riding...(no offense to 3.7 owners) but getting through a yellow light with that engine was not a pleasing experience.. especially when one is looking for a new car.

Found a 4.7L nearby me from a dealer that only had 1 owner and was traded in for a RAM..(needed it for work)... this 08 4.7 only had 28K on it.. and it was night and day compared to the v6's. on anything other than a steep uphill, it accelerated smooth and effortlessly up to 2500RPMs... needless to say, i was instantly sold.. bought it a week later and have loved it ever since.. 13months later.. ive put about 20K on it and hopefully I'll add another 100-150K more!

mine is still stock btw, not sure of anything that would be cost efficient to improve it even more.. if there are simple or easy ways to make my 4.7L even better, please do tell!

Re: Why do I like the 4.7L engine?

tfranz, I have a 4.7 also. I put an exhaust on it and a drop in k and n filter and it seems to be a bit peppier to my butt dyno. I want to tune it as well i just don't want to spend the money on the tuner since there are very limited options in regards to that.

what exhaust did you go with?
also, see any mpg gains?... iknow the tuner would help this more, but just wondering.

Re: Why do I like the 4.7L engine?

tfranz,

I went with a flowmaster 40 series dumped right after the muffler and a drop in, i was getting 6-17 on the highway and with the upgrades i was able to get 20.8 on the highway over thanks giving going to Tulsa. Which is a 100 some odd mile trip. I was going 75 mph the entire time.

Re: Why do I like the 4.7L engine?

im debating on getting the tuner myself but i don't know which way to go. I know that the options are limited for the 4.7 owners.
