Re: Why do I like the 4.7L engine?

I had a 4.7 in my 01 Dakota Quad Cab 4x4 and loved it. Lots of power, decent gas mileage, and good reliability. Last week I bout a 02 WJ Limited with the 4.7 in it. When searching, it had to have a 4.7 in it. I love this engine. I put a 3" chambered exhaust on it and it sounds so bad ass now. I get so many looks and compliments on it. I'll be getting a K&N CAI and possibly a tuner come tax return time.

Re: Why do I like the 4.7L engine?

And the 3.7 is supposedly the same motor - 2 pistons. Wohoo for the V6 guys! LOL, I always liked the 3.7 FWIW, reliable, decent power, responds well to boltons, tune. No real monster but I bet like you said with some pistons, rods and maybe a nice like 5 angle job on the heads, dop a turbo in there and shed be great!

Re: Why do I like the 4.7L engine?

just bought my 1st Jeep back in June. 99 WJ ltd. with the 4.7. Never had any experience with any of their stuff and lets just say I was impressed with the pep that little mill has. It had 164k on it when I got it and has just over 170 on it now and still runs like a champ. Just a guess but I think this thing could edge the 9's in the 1/8 mile and that aint bad for a 4000lb. bone stocker. I dont have my Malibu ready for the track yet so this may see a pass or two just to cure the itch lol
