I started off with both of my diff's and I was shocked at how it ran. I didn't think it would really do anything there, but it seemed to coast and not need as much power to keep the beast rolling. Made a huge difference in traffic.

Then came the oil changes, it took about 3 to really get it running amazing, but even the first time made it idle smoother.

Then was the ATF, I have noticed lower RPM's at freeway speeds, and much better shifts. But I did install a shift kit at the same time and it is probably due to both.

Yes it's pricey, but to me well worth it!!

Que? You put Royal Purple branded ATF into your tranny and not the recommended ATF+4? And it ran perfect? My tranny change is coming up, so should I must the Mopar atf+4 or the RP?

Re: Royal Purple!!

That is all up to you. The ATF+4 is synthetic. Thats what the +4 part is. So as long as you use a good synthetic fluid you should be good.

Some people swear by OEM fluids I personally don't.

Re: Royal Purple!!

I have used rp oil in my old pacifica. I started using it rather than conventional oil at about 60k. It did run more smoothly I believe. However, at about 85k it sprung a leak at the front main seal. Now this all may be coincidental, but I have read on other sites that rp cleans up parts and seals better than conventional oils and could cause small leaks that were originally plugged with oil to clean out and start leaking. All said and done, I had the main seal replaced, along with the water pump and timing belt, at a cost of over 800 bucks. I do like rp, and now that I bought a GC, I am debating using it again. My Jeep only has 18k on it, so I might use it. Now, if I had bought it brand new, i would certainly use it!

Re: Royal Purple!!

I actually just switched to RP last week. VERY satisfied with the results! Prior to the change my Jeep use to have a very annoying tremble while ilding at a red light and the first thing I noticed after the switch is no more shaking! That alone made the price worth it. I also noticed that the Jeep runs alot smoother even at highway speeds.

Re: Royal Purple!!

Same here...as soon as I bought my WJ, I swapped out the engine, diff, and transfer case with RP, and immediately felt the results. I'm a lifer. I did NOT put it in the trans though. That got OEM juice.
Here's the latest oil analysis from Blackstone.
