Compressor maintenence question.......

I wasn't sure where to put this post but I have a 50gal 6hp craftsman compressor I bought a few years ago, when I stopped working on my 73' mach 1 I pretty much left it sitting in my garage, when I work on my car its easier to bring out my smaller compressor in my driveway. Anyway does anyone know how I can tell if it has any water in it from sitting? If so how do you get it out. Im worried that it might start rusting away from the inside out and i'll pretty much lose my 700 bucks I spent on it to use it like 5 times.

Re: Compressor question? right forum?

check ur manual. normally there is a small release valve on the bottom of the compressor that lets out the "water" that is in the oil-less compressors... i have 2 compressors(2gallon and a 50 gal) and they both have them.

Re: Compressor question? right forum?

It should have a release or drain valve on the bottom that lets out the condensation that builds up. you should drain it out routinely though in the future

Re: Compressor maintenence question.......

Wow that was easy but a dixie cup amount of brown rust water came out, think I should leave the valve open for awhile and let it dry out?

Every time you run it I would drain it from now on bud especially when its humid out too alot of condensation occurs.

Hemi WK is just really nice
Re: Compressor maintenence question.......

Like posted above....drain it every time you use it. I use mine all the time and drain it about 1-2 times a week - maybe more depending on how humid it is outside. You shouldn't have a problem with it if it's not being used.
