Re: 2011 to 2014 front swap.

Sorry not much has happened on this thread for a long time. Finally making the steps to move it forward. Just got my grill and lower front fascia back from protech getting sprayed with bed liner. Here are some pics. It looks bad ass in person. I wanted it to be tough looks wise and physically tough as well. Stuff does not dissapoint.

I also did the fog surrounds while I was at it.

Here is a pic of the grill with my chrome mesh mocked up behind.

This stuff is sprayed on the front and back of all these pieces so install is going to be a bit of a pain but I think it will be worth it.

Re: 2011 to 2014 front swap.

Finally I am making some progress. My bumper is getting painted right now. My new lights are finally complete as well as the wiring harness i made should be ready to cut out the old lights and patch in the new. I decided all this work without doing the lights that I really liked would be stupid. So if anybody needs some halogen 2014 lights I am selling those.
I'll post pics when I started ripping the 2011 front off.

Re: 2011 to 2014 front swap.

glad the project is coming along, and i'd like to see any progress pics/vids that you could provide as that would help others, like myself, who plan on doing this.

but, i gotta say, not a fan of the bedliner look, but to each their own i guess

Re: 2011 to 2014 front swap.

Im about 90% there now. I will post more pics. I have some on my camera I have to get but here is the almost finished front. Just some finalizing where the bumper meets the fender to get it tight.

Re: 2011 to 2014 front swap.

Here are some more pics from the install.

A quick closeup of the grill so you can see the texture. Fit was super tight to the light as well. I was surprised how good it was.

Back to some process pics. Front off with inner grill still on and my old headlights. The grill setup was different mounting to the front versus the new grill that basically connects to the rest of the bumper.

Everything out.

Passenger side wiring out of the looms. This side has a 12 pin main harness whereas the other side is a six. Interesting.

Here is the new headlights in. I had a bunch of trouble with the pin out. Spent most of my time figuring that out. Turns out what I was going off of was totally wrong so had to trial and error my way to figure what was happening. I wasnt getting anything from the lights because what i had for grounds on my pin out were wrong and without that i get nothing. Got it figured now though.

Light ballast was hitting the support for the headlight but not bad enough for me to have to trim. Maybe later. Not sure how hot that gets tight like that.

Here is a shot of me putting all the bumper pieces together. The line-x coating made things tight but really not as bad as I thought it was going to be. I didn't have to shave it of the tabs except on the grill to the shrowd that holds the grill over the front under the hood. That part I did. Fogs went in smooth just had to get them close and use the screws from the backside to tighten them down.

Will continue more pics in a second reply.

Re: 2011 to 2014 front swap.

Ok here is some more.

I zip tied all these parts together to make sure they don't pull apart 1) while I was putting everything together 2) off road I didn't want anything shifting 3) it was the only way i could get everything nice and tight.
Here is a shot of that. I had to drill little holes everywhere I wanted to put a zip tie.

I didnt realize I needed a different mount where the bumper meets the fender
Here is apic of old

And new one is enough different that it just doesn't work. I kinda screwed myself a little because i needed to get the bumper on because i needed my work Magnum back so i hacked the tabs off to get it in and now am fighting with keeping it tight. I should have obviously got the right parts but anyways now i am going to plastic weld the old flanges off of the old bumper onto the new. Sucks but ill get some plastic welding experience.

Just a fog light shot. Love the look. And I don't have to armor all. Also road chips shouldn't be a problem.

Here is a finished front shot. Lights on bright setting. I have them set to that all the time no matter if the hid's are on or the blinkers are going. The blinkers are so bright and a different color who is going to miss them. Never quite got what they were so worried about to have to turn them off with the blinkers.
