3157 RED LED - Hyperflash

I installed a set of Sylvania 3157R red LED bulbs last night for my turn signals. The bulb operates and looks as expected, perfect. When I start the car the dash gives me a rear left and right turn signal outtage warning. When the signal is engaged the bulb blinks at a normal rate, while the arrow on the dash hyperflashes. I am not looking to get any sort of in line splicing going, as I may revert back to stock in the future. What are my options? Do I need to change the bulbs? If so, for what?

If it's anything like my Wrangler, the LED bulbs don't draw enough load for the computer to tell that they are there. The only option is to slice into the wire and add a resistor.

From what I have read, these bulbs work without the need for a resistor.

I think your going to need to get a resistor. I had to add some when I switched out my rear lights to leds. You can get them off amazon with the taps that can be removed if you ever want to go back to stock. No need to cut.

Chaos
I actually ordered those bulbs two days ago, we'll see how they work out. LOVE the LED swap here, just need to correct the hyper flash. I understand the resistors and splicing of stock wires, but it doesn't make me warm and fuzzy, so we'll exhaust all bulb options first.

What years your jeep? Putco plasma 3157 leds worked plug n play for my 2015. Bit pricey though.

Re: 3157 RED LED - Hyperflash

Ended up doing the rear fog light mod with the help of Correy's harness, hyper flash gone!
