Exclamation Re: aftermarket OEM spec'd HIDs for wk

did any figure out how to adjust the level of the light in the reps from am auto parts? for my setup i got a d1s kit from ebay and it the stock 9006 plug goes right into the ballast. also i am not impressed with light output i think my reflector are MUCH brighter did you notice that also tri0829?

Re: aftermarket OEM spec'd HIDs for wk

Mine were much brighter than the reflectors what color bulb did you get? My ballasts hooked into the headlamp they wernt separate I'm usin the stock bulbs and ballasts. The only thing i have hooked into the 9006 port is the relay harness to tell the lights when to turn on basically. I cant say whyyourswould seem dimmer but I know that mine for sure are way brighter and pure white, quality is comparable to any oem headlight idk why yours wouldn't be as good unless ur running a high temp bulb then you will definitely lose light output... Anything above 6k I probably wouldn't do

Also to adjust the height of the light you can use a set of plyers to rotate the piece that the auto leveling system uses. It's the little grey screw thing surounded by the cream plastic that you would attach the auto leveling thing too, that screw turns left and right to adjust height

fit and finish of these lights is good, i'd give it a 7.5/10 compared to the stock..
the adhesive used on my lights was black and they were quite liberal with it so i'd guess opening these up would be a PITA..

now i'm just trying to figure out how to adjust the alignment of the housings.
where can i get these for my 08? and do they possibly come in black?!?!

Re: aftermarket OEM spec'd HIDs for wk

I got mine from eBay,they don't come in black you would have to open them up and paint them yourself no one has done this yet that i know of but the glue holding them together is likely easier to separate than in the oem ones

Re: aftermarket OEM spec'd HIDs for wk

alright cool, let me know how adjusting works, if nothing else i would say that it might just be a bad hid kit cause mine are super bright, ive had hid kits from ebay that were major issues especially with brightness so if leveling doesnt work i would say try moving upmarket and getting a better quality kit... im runnin the oem ballasts and bulbs and their perfect the color is pure white itd be nice to have a bit more color to them but they look great either way you can use scotts thread to wire them up if you go the oem route everything is the same

I bought these headlamps and they arrived yesterday. I understand now I need OEM ballasts and bulbs (D1S), but I don't get how the relay hooks up. The headlamps have OEM side marker, high beam and turn signal bulbs already (a nice surprise).

Do I need a specific D1S relay kit (has special connectors different form 9006), or do I use a normal/standard 9006 relay kit and plug them into the halogen high-beams? Anyone have a D1S relay harness link they can share?

Thanks for your help!

if you use the oem ballasts and bulbs and use scotts thread to wire them up so they have a 9006 plug coming off of them you need a relay kit for the 9006, this would plug into the connector from the headlamp and the one from the car and hook directly to the battery. Im not sure how a d1s kit would work cause ive never bought one but in my opinion i would go the oem route its much cleaner looking and less headaches in the end.

as for the wiring that comes with the headlamp you can dump it, save the bulbs and hook them into the wiring harness that is already on your truck. the harness they include wont be able to hook into your plugs, the only important wires on it are the ones for the bubls and ballasts, and this would be only if you use scotts thread to wire them other wise you cant use any of the wiring on it.

hope that helps sorry it sounds more confusing then it is really
