Re: aftermarket OEM spec'd HIDs for wk

SO the ones from Am...Are they are both projector style ? and one just is setup for halogen(9006) and the other factory HID? or is one projector and the other like stock Non projector headlights?

It would be seeet if i could get a stock projector style that excepts 9006

I ordered the ones that say they're HID (the $170 for each) and the plugs on the lights I received are exactly what you see in the picture.

They take D1S HID bulbs.

Why? Halogen lights do not work well in projector housings

I was just curious.. Hypothetically if they were 9006 halogen could u just stick a 9006 hid bulb in there?

Re: aftermarket OEM spec'd HIDs for wk

I bought the ones from eBay that said they were not hid, idk why they describe them as that because they only fit the d1s bulbs and have the wiring for the ballasts. I think the seller just doesn't understand that jeep did not supply a standard halogen projector (it would be reflector for standard or projector hid). I think there may be a difference in the harness attached or something along those lines. I have the so called non hids wi the stock bulbs and ballasts and they work fine light output is very good...

Re: aftermarket OEM spec'd HIDs for wk

u can put an HID bulb into anything as long as u can find the right bulb type
so whether it says HID or not is irrelevant

with the site linked about i believe [only what i think, may or may not be true] that the only difference between the HID and the non-HID is the plug which would plug into a vehicle that came with hids or didnt...understand?

basically if a headlight takes anything other than the bulbs like the D1S type u can fit an HID bulb into it.

u can probably take a 1960's car and throw HIDs into it as long as u have the right bulb type

when buying new headlights for your vehicle u want the non hid ones unless urs came stock with hids

the only difference would be when someone is selling headlights with an aftermarket HID kit included, which would still plug into a non hid equipped car..

hope that made alittle bit of sense lol

I agree with you, but they still have a problem with the description of this part. I ordered the non-HID projector -they stated it's for Jeep's WITHOUT factory HID and only Halogen lamps.

Says several times not for HID, uses Halogen bulbs only.

I received them and they ARE factory HID lamps. And they have all of the wiring for a factory HID system. I zip-tied it up and installed my own ballasts and relay and everything is working great.

Their description for the unit I bought - the NON-factory HID, halogen only projectors, is clearly a mistake.
