Re: aftermarket OEM spec'd HIDs for wk

So esentially if you were to buy these to put in an 05-07 GC (I know there'd be a gap unless you get stillens or a new bumper etc.) ....

There is no advantage to buying the more expensive ones that the website has listed as "HID" because they both have projectors, take D1S bulbs and you would need to change the connector that plugs into the factory harness anyway.

Correct?

I received them and they ARE factory HID lamps. And they have all of the wiring for a factory HID system. I zip-tied it up and installed my own ballasts and relay and everything is working great.

Their description for the unit I bought - the NON-factory HID, halogen only projectors, is clearly a mistake.

What bulb and ballast did you use? d1s kit?

I believe that is correct.

As far as bulbs and ballasts if you want quality and durability as well as easier installation (meaning you don't have a million wires everywhere) I say go with the oem bulbs and ballasts car-part.com is where i got mine from if you want to save some cash and risk faulty bulbs and ballast problems you can get the d1s hid kit I believe xenon depot sells them. A lot of people use their hid kits without issue I'm just skeptical from previous bad experiences with aftermarket hid kits

Re: aftermarket OEM spec'd HIDs for wk

Can you buy new OEM ballasts separate or only the headlight assembly as a whole?

If separate, anyone got a part #?
