I want to black out my pillars between my windows. i have a local truck graphics shop that will do the work for a very reasonable price. But i wanted to get your opinions on it before i go ahead and do it. (i would need to remove the ends of my vent visors and re tape them or get in the channel vent visors)
So with my minimal photo editing skills i edited a pic of my jeep, Tell me what you think, remember it will look better when its done for real by a pro, not the edited photo.
Also try and picture this with the lower body trim and air dam painted to match the body color.
I really like the blacked out pillars look; though it makes a much bigger impact on lighter colored vehicles, IMO. It's a pretty impactful mod for the money. I say go for it!
If i were you and you wanted to do the roof, IMHO, For best looks and best protection against the sun, get it painted. 1 I think it would look sick and too the film will not wear well against constant sun and dings and such.
Yea it seems that prices for everything is cheaper up here. Tint, film, painting, and exhausts. People have driven from all over the country to have their exhaust done by the shop that did mine.
to be completely honest... I'm not a big fan of the black pillars in your color Jeep. If you do them, I would get alot darker window tint to make your windows more black so they match closer with the black pillars... just my opinion though... You got a great lookin Jeep though man!
Bslagle05, I have full intentions of getting my rear windows tinted darker and getting my front windows tinted as much as i can legally go. But i still have no job for the moment so things will happen slowly, i am gonna black out the pillars first when i get cash then the tint and finally (prolly not till next year) i will get the lower trim and air dam color matched (mopar body kit prolly)
If you get your windows tinted darker (which is currently at 15%ish or so, and you say you wanted your fronts tinted legally), it would look somehow off in my opinion. I'm not bashing you or anything but if you want to go for the blacked out windows look, you would need all the windows to be tinted the same, which includes the fronts.
I know its not legal but the guys that do the tint know what people can "get away" with, So then what i will do is leave the rear as it is and try and tint the front so it will look good but not be too dark, this way the rear is not severely darker. I will make sure it will look good and not "off"
I just spent the past hour removing my out side mount rain vent visors. But i broke them in the process so i called up auto vent shade and said they broke and they are sending me a free set of in channel vent visors for my jeep. Said 7 to 10 business days before they get here. WIN!!
I'm hoping it turns out looking good buddy! I'm interested to see how it looks on your darker colour. I guess it's not the end of the world if it turns out looking like arse, it's only 100 bucks (ouch!)
You'll def need the front tint to get the effect I think.
Did you tell them what colour nynil you want? What type of black did you go? To match the rubbers or what?
Here's pics of mine before and after - roof looks chopped huh!
I was going to do it a satin or semi gloss black i think. Not sure what kind of material they use, they did the graphics on my dads truck and also on alot of major companies locally so i know the stuff holds up, (my dads stuff is over 6 years old and looks pretty damn good for it)
I am not worried about it looking bad at all.
Worst case scenario is it looks just a bit off if i cant tint the front windows dark enough. so what. It will only be noticed in direct sunlight and if your paying attention.
As far as the color being dark? Well its a gamble but i think i will like it, it would be better if my jeep was white but i passed up the white wk i almost bought.
We will see. it wont happen for at least a month unless i get a new job tomorrow and can catch up on all my debts.
I reckon it'll look great Kyle, was just saying if you don't like it after a while, you can simply pull it off, it's not like painting it where it's the end of the world having to return it to std
lol, I was thinking it would need a house mortgage to freight them, they're not heavy but they'll cube up impressively
I thought something similar would be available there?
I am deff keeping my chrome trim. Loving the tinted tails. The only parts i want to body match would be the Air dam and Skirts, (sorry if you thought i meant the chrome).
I didnt have my stillens on in that pic that was the first day i had the jeep actually.
Great work!
My friend just did this one for me real quick, it was hard to do because the angles were not right but these are the 17" (supposed to be bright silver) AEV PIntler wheels i want to buy next year. Also added the blacked out pillars w/o the tinted windows.
