The camera adjusts the exposure automatically. With brighter bulbs the camera just won't have to work as hard to get a usable picture, ie the image quality will be better.

Yeah LEDs are bright to look AT but most lack throw/output (usable light).

Check this thread before you make an order. It looks like there's currently a code until the 16th: http://jeepgarage.org/showthread.php?t=98&page=6

LEDs are instant-on, which is nice, but they pale in comparison to HIDs when it comes to output.

LEDs are bright to look AT though, so if you just want to inform people you're backing up, LEDs are great. If you need extra illumination, HIDs are the way to go.

ya i notcied that earlier when i was backing up. the LEDs are better looking than OEM and bright but i still couldnt see anything when backing up lol.

HIDs might be the way to go but you even said it goes on for a split second as you go from P to D. this might lead to early failure since you are turning the light on and off so often.

Yeah that concerned me too, which is why I used a higher end kit. I went with a "digital" ballast that mentioned in the description it will withstand a crazy number of on/off cycles. It has been over a year now and they're still going strong!

the HIDs were intense but had to warm up.

the vled PLATINUM are almost as bright as hIDs and are brighter than a stock bulb. plus they have multiple LEDs....some firing straight out some hitting the reflectors so you get plenty of light out.

i would say the VLEDS since its PnP if you have the 05-06 with the 3157 reverse. if ou have 07+ tails then the HID cause you cant find a good 921 LED.
