Chrome Door Molding Removal Problem

I recently removed the chrome strips from my Red 2013 JGC and noticed something on one side. On the passenger rear door the paint is raised around where the strip used to be. Also it is a different tint as if it was fading. Has anyone seen this before, and if so, How do you remove it?

Re: Chrome Door Molding Removal Problem

Are you the original owner? If not, it sounds like the door was repainted and they simply masked around the door molding instead of removing it prior to paint. Just a thought.

That is what I am thinking. I can see red paint on the chrome molding I took off

Re: Chrome Door Molding Removal Problem

The factory wouldn't have painted the door with the trim on so it has been resprayed. I just removed the trim on mine and realized the same thing happened on my rear door. (I'm not the original owner) The paint is a bit darker under the trim and there is a definite line where the clear coat was sprayed on the door while the molding was on. Ugh! Now it's off to a body shop to see if they can buff it all out without sanding and repainting the door.

I did it with a heat gun and fishing line. I think it was factory. I bought some wheels from another jeep guy and the same thing happened to him
