I just did this to my chrome wheels. I'm assuming your center cap is plastic like most and wont be powdercoatable, but you could paint it if you want. I had a waterjet guy cut me custom ones. Also most wheels have shitty chrome jobs and will flake off if a normal powdercoater blasts them unless he has advanced sandblasting capabilities. My powdercoater ran into issues and I had to take them to an actual sandblast guy. I love the results though, we'll see how they look on the jeep in the spring.
Thanks for the info man! yeah I too have plastic center caps I'll have to look to see if I can get a waterjet guy thats local. I also think that it wont be all all that difficult to get the chrome off with a light sandblasting...

I got my rims powdercoated in satin black and they look great. If you're seriously considering it, I'd suggest you take a trip to a local powdercoater and get them to show you some samples of the two finishes. Either or would look good, its just personal preference.

Oh, maybe try out matte silver too that is a nice look!
Thanks again Marty, I called around a few places and they said price will reflect how bad the rims are corroded, as they may have to be taken to a sandblaster specifically as KidFresh said.

Well, the most problematic area of the rim is where the spokes connect to the lip, that's where they started pitting.

Rob good luck with the blackening of the rims ... but I think it would be wicked when you have it black ... IMHO would be worth every penny

Re: Contemplating going to the DARK SIDE!

I would paint them either the color of your Jeep or the trim color. Should make everything flow nicely. I would PS it if I knew how to work the damn program...

I know what ya mean about painting them the color of the trim, done a quick Ps of that now (the benefits of using Ps at work huh?)

If it were me I'd probably still go with the satin black wheel.

Re: Contemplating going to the DARK SIDE!

Photoshop the lip to match his paint and keep the wheel glossy black. Id like to see that look.

Re: Contemplating going to the DARK SIDE!

I think I like the black more than the grey/trim color....both look great though.

And now this newest Marty creation looks good too...do you want to keep any chrome on there??
