Re: Dash kit install for anyone thinking about it

i think there should be a sticky where everyone can post there different dash kits, vinyl wraped or painted trim. that way everyone can get a idea of what looks good, and what doesnt. any thoughts?

Looks good, I saw this on eBay before. I think if he put better pics up on eBay he would sell more.

Re: Dash kit install for anyone thinking about it

i think I am going to do this now...I have been wanting to get rid of my crappy a$$ looking yellow wood forever!!! Thanks for the pics and info...+rep!

What kind of cleaner did you use to prep the pieces?

Edit - is he going to make the new piece for the front doors soon? If I ordered a kit will he do the same for me? I will reference your purchase if you don't mind...about when did you buy this?

well bad news. he just said he cant make it where it will wrap around, so i told him just to make one longer and i will trim and wrap it. i know i can make it work, so just waiting on his response. as for the cleaner question, the kit came with alcohol wipes and a adhesive promoter you just wipe on. and if he makes the door pieces longer and i can make them work im sure if you ask he will do it for you also. so maybe you should wait a bit till find out about the door trim.

Re: Dash kit install for anyone thinking about it

i had one of these kits on my old car.........once they are on and you decide you dont like them, be prepared to f*ck shit up getting em off, the sticky residue from the 3m is a bitch to clean off even with goo gone.......but that is just my experience from these kits, i would never ever buy one again, and after about a year i highly regreted installing it and thought it just looked cheap and kinda cheesy......but to each his own, if you want it to look good paint that shit dont put stickers on it!!

Re: Dash kit install for anyone thinking about it

I did this in the CF one a year or two ago. Needless to say Im ripping it off ever so slowly so I can do it properly with some 3M or Neffy wrap cause the stick on kits, no matter their price DONT LAST. Mine faded and turned red from sun. Also just doesnt look that good, has no lasting appeal or at least to me. Anyone on the fence, Id say skip the CF kits, but this woodgrain one looks pretty good I have pics somewhere on here if you want to search lol, Im not diggin it up though

Glad to hear your happy with them! I think I'm leaning more towards painting them, just curious how people painted the carbon fiber look-a-like type pieces as I think I'll need to use some body filler to smooth it out.

Also, I hate to know that I can't paint the side vents on the dash, unless I want to pull the whole dash out.
