Heh, that's just what I confirmed in the garage by pulling the DRL fuse. LED trim isn't on the left/right HID fuses either. I didn't pull the BCM/Exterior Lighting #2 fuse yet, but that would be an academic result if it proved to be the related fuse.

Yes, the LED trim lights are on with the parking lights.

The board modification may be unavoidable. On your 300, is this board accessible without removing/baking apart the headlight assy? This is a tight area on the 2014 WK2; even changing the HID bulbs requires removing the air intake box.

Re: Disabling LED highlights on headlight assembly

Unfortunately, I don't think it would have been accessible without disassembling the light housings (on the 300, at least). The LEDs are mounted to a large plastic bezel and the PCB is mounted underneath it. I never attempted to access it with the light assembled because I had no reason to (I opened mine for reasons other than the LEDs).

If you could get to the board, it would be easy to accomplish what you want. Mine has three plugs on it. The first is the input, and it goes to 3 pins (parking driver, DRL driver, ground) on the main connector on the back of the light. One of the others drives the LED ring and the last one drives the parking lights. Unplugging the the connector that goes to the ring would be all I'd need to do.

Does the Jeep also have LED parking lights inside the headlight housings?

Well, crap. That means it's likely set up exactly like the 300. Looking closely, it looks like I could snip my LED wires by removing one of the caps on the back of the housing. That might be an option for you too, albeit not a simple one.

Why would you want to remove an excellent safety feature?

1) I don't like the garish LED border.
2) I don't have my DRLs enabled anyway, so disabling said obnoxious LED border highlights simply means these would be disabled at night too, where they provide zero "additional safety" over the fact that the HID bulbs are on.

DRLs are a legitimate and function a safety device designed to reduce collisions. They will become mandatory and there should be an ADR that prevents disabling them if they are factory fitted. Currently, this is not the case. Seat belts were fitted before the became mandatory.

Yank, yank. No doubt you'd also support a law requiring all vehicles to be painted entirely in hot pink and neon yellow stripes to improve visibility "for safety" too. Safety first, amirite?

It's illegitimate to try to compare a garish LED accent trim to seatbelts. I'm guessing you already knew that before you posted, though.

Illegitimate? Not sure what we are talking about now. You're getting a bit silly. Nothing new to be learned from this. END.

I'll have to investigate how difficult it will be to get into the headlamp housings as 00R/T mentioned. At a minimum, on the 2014 WK2 EcoDiesel to access the driver's side assy will require removing the airbox. The passenger side is tight, too.

Which computer module controls the lighting? The BCM?
