Then take them to a local trusted body shop and have them prep, paint and clear to match your Jeep paint code.
----to prep them all they need to do is rough up the chrome finish on the covers. the chrome is chemically bonded to the plastic covers and WILL NOT PEEL! Then all they need to do is paint like they would any other body part. here are the results
your funny dude.......I have never had anything done by Daniel so i cant comment on his work. thats why i dont recommend anyone unless I have had work done by them. I will say that 99% of the people I have seen tht have had work done by daniel have been more than satisfied.....BUT....some of the WK colors are hard to match unless you have an actual piece from the truck to match.
not a problem....those pics are from early 2007 before my truck was even close to what it looks like now. But they were close ups of the covers. i dont even have the covers now.....they are on another owners Infuego red WK still lookin sweet after 3 years---
I think I have 2-3 sets of the exact covers that Scott purchased which are a very high quality chrome plate that I would be willing to part with... If anyone is interested, please PM me. I will try to get this in the "Classifieds" section soon...
I ran across this thread and it reminded me that I bought them and didn't use them, I chose to go with the SRT8 painted factory mirrors, which we're hella expensive!
Scott had mentioned that the chrome cannot be peeled... I have a set that I did peel and took weeks using a razor blade.
I have this set fully peeled and primed ready for paint. I would not recommend going the route I did to peel them. I was afraid of the paint bonding to the chrome, but as time did tell, it worked perfectly for Scott!
Hey Brian....I have the OEM painted mirrors now too...love them. Anyway...lots of members have these and the poaint holds up just as good as the real thing. Its really a pretty inexpensive mod....so someone buy Brian covers and get this doine---
Scott, did you ever get the auto-dim wired up in the drivers mirror? I've been thinking about it, but if memory serves me right we'd have to run a wire from the rear-view mirror harness to the door mirror harness. I would have to get back in touch with Milous to find out for sure.
wj jeep hasnt been around in a long while. You can get the covers on ebay real cheap and then have them painted. One of our vendors...Daniels tinted tails paints them for like $50 a pair
