Driver side dimming mirror

Please remove, if wrong area.

My driver side mirror has heat/frosted damage and I'm trying to find a reasonable replacement. I was told I had to buy the whole assembly and that's $500! I love the dim feature but that's costly. Any ideas? My jeep is an 09 grand Cherokee. I've thought maybe tint the mirror? Body shop can get me a non dim for $75.
