Re: Dual exhaust for WK??

It can be done. The shop that did my side exhaust said he could do it but it would be difficult. Best/easiest is ditch the spare tire. I have not decided if i am gonna work around the tire or take it out when i have to re do my exhaust. I will prolly pull the spare out and only bring it on long trips, in the back.

Re: Dual exhaust for WK??

I think im leaving the 20's on year round so my spare is not needed. And even if I got a flat now I still need to get it towed because of the spare tire size difference, and im not about to buy another srt rep rim and same tire just for a spare. Gotta luv Triple A Plus, with the 100 mile tow... Def worth the one year membership. My buddy locked his keys in the car recently so he used mine and they came and unlocked his door. Funny thing is the guy never even asked for ID or the triple A card. We could of been standing next to someone elses car and the guy would of broke in for us. Lol

Re: Dual exhaust for WK??

Oh, back to what I was gonna say. If I need to add another muffler im gonna pass for now. If it was as easy as welding on another pipe off the existing tail pipe and run it over to the left i'd do it. Im still going tomorrow to see what the shop says about it.

AAA won't pick you up if I'm 80 miles up a beach on an island.... anyways, putting the standard spare on wouldn't be an issue for you , the rolling diametre is close enough. I run 22's and have driven 100's of miles with the std spare on one corner without a problem.

Maybe just keep your original pipe hidden up behind the bumper and add some fake dual tips somewhere??? never have to clean them then either! lol

Re: Dual exhaust for WK??

I was thinking about installing a fake pipe, but seriously how lame is that??? lol. I really dont see why it wouldnt work just tacking on another pipe off the existing tail pipe, since its after the muffler anyways. And I dont drive on trails or way off on the beach anywhere that triple A wnt be able to reach me, or if i were i'd make them bring the wrecker out to get me. lol.

On my previous GC I just got the front tires replaced, ended up being slightly diff sized tires because they were a great deal slightly used, but just driving out of there it felt like the rear was pushing the front, tires were chirping. So i'd be afraid of f-ing up the tranny putting the spare on even for a short distance. The other thing that sux is these tires were special order since no one has them in stock around me. I'd be carless for a day or two if i ever got a flat. i got rental coverage though, so no worries.

Sure a fake tip is lame, I was just saying it's easier to do that

You could keep everything standard in front of the diff, but aft of the diff will need to be custom. Have you been under and had a look my friend? If you have you'll know that TWO new tail pipes will be needed because you cannot replicate the passengers side on the driver's side in the same position.

Re: Dual exhaust for WK??

I think he wants to ditch the spare, and just cut in another pipe and run across where the spare would have been, to the new set of tips on the drivers side? Correct me if i'm wrong Tim, but that doesn't sound too bad if you really don't need the spare.

Re: Dual exhaust for WK??

I do not see any reason whey putting a Y pipe after the muffler would not work thats what scott did on his and if i ever change mine to dual tips like the srt8 then i will do the same, Y after muffler and then dual pipes back. Just keep it at a 2.5 " diameter pipe or less, dont go 3". then do tips of your choice.
