Re: "Fake SRT8 Exhaust, opinions?

I just hate clamps...... and just because Magnaflow uses clamps doesn't make it right. lol
You can't use aluminium tubing, it's melting point is far too low and it cracks easily. Steel or stainless steel, or if you're 80 years old, copper lol
Another option is make it in steel and have it ceramic coated...... not sure if anyone near you does that though?

Re: "Fake SRT8 Exhaust, opinions?

I just said backpressure becasue I thought you were going to cut it off after the suspension and put an almost 90 to run it out the middle. As long as its smooth I dont see a problem

Re: "Fake SRT8 Exhaust, opinions?

I really want to do it myself, and found SS tubing on ebay pretty cheap.

At first I was thinking of cutting the tail pipe after the rear hanger, but because of what you said scott, being such a tight 90 angle needed to route it over I would cut it where its straight off the muffler and keep it as straight as possible, and buy the mandrel bent tubing so its "smooth".

Re: "Fake SRT8 Exhaust, opinions?

I don't see any issues with placing a 90 after the diff and sending over toward the centre mate..... that'll be the easiest for you to do in your back yard.

Re: "Fake SRT8 Exhaust, opinions?

I dont think i will need an angle like a 90, it should be a nice straight shot back from the muffler, slight angles.

Re: "Fake SRT8 Exhaust, opinions?

My idea. Use the stock SRT8 exhaust. Chop off the pipes from the resonators back. re bend pipe and weld on to resonators with 4" tips.

Cut out both sides of the trail hitch bezel like i did in this pic. Install exhaust with 1 tip on each side of the exhaust.

I will be finishing this install as soon as i sell my side exit exhaust.

I already cut the bezel, i just need to cut the pipes with the bend, and have it all installed with new tail pipes and tips.

100% real with a functional class 4 hitch.

I have since remove the spare tire winch as well.

Re: "Fake SRT8 Exhaust, opinions?

Timmy-take my advice....please? Ask xoxstugotsxox...he didnt heed my advice or warning. Use a stock srt exhaust to go over the rear suspension. It will save you alot of headache and money. I learned from experience. No shop no matter how good they are can make the correct bends over the rear suspension. Unless you have plenty of money and time to keep taking your Jeep back for fine tuning. The suspension will hit on the exhaust piping unless it is PERFECT. Find a cheap SRT used exhaust and use the section from the mufller to the rear tips...this section goes over the suspension perfectly and you will get NO suspension bumps.

Re: "Fake SRT8 Exhaust, opinions?

x2, thats what i am doing and the shop doing the install said i will save about $200 off the price tag to not have to make all of that pipe custom on the spot in the shop. That and there is stock hangers that can be used that are already there. you just need the rubber hangers to put on them that you can get at the dealership or parts store.

I got my SRT8 exhaust on ebay for under $200 shipped from california to NH.

SEE how close that sway bar is in this pic, that is stock rear pipes over the axle with new pipes after. even if you did that it would be better.

Re: "Fake SRT8 Exhaust, opinions?

^I agree... I paid a 100 bucks for the srt exhuast from the muffler back, and only cost 75 for install.

Re: "Fake SRT8 Exhaust, opinions?

right travis.....all they did on mine was remove the stock exhaust, remove the SRT muffler, weld in a straight pipe in place of the SRT muffler, hang the exhaust and weld two pins in the rear frame rail to hang the resonator and tips sections. $50 and 45 minutes work. The SRT exhaust will hang on the stock WK hangers.
