Re: "Fake SRT8 Exhaust, opinions?

Scott does not have the srt muffler, he has a Y pipe installed in it's place... I have the stock muffler with an h pipe connecting it to the srt pipes right after the muffler.

I got my SRT8 exhaust on ebay for under $200 shipped from california to NH.

SEE how close that sway bar is in this pic, that is stock rear pipes over the axle with new pipes after. even if you did that it would be better.

Dam you got a great deal for the srt exhaust then. But how are you making it "dual", from what point? The muffler, before the muffler, or after the muffler? I guess im lost because dont the srt's have dual inlet and outlet?

To me it looks kinda simple from that last pic, just make sure the pipes are up as high as they can go right above the axle, for clearance. Right?

And those other exhaust pix are hideos IMO, lol. And that first srt looks jacked up in the rear. Mine sits very low right now, for some reason. I thought with the eibachs it makes a WK as low as a stock srt8?

Re: "Fake SRT8 Exhaust, opinions?

here ya go Timmy...

This is the stock rear sections of the SRT exhaust. These two sections and the 2 sections that travel over the suspension are just hung on the stock WK hangers...except for the two rear resonator sections. My shop welded two hanger rods into the rear frame rail and hung the two rear sections from those hangers.

This pic shows the tow sections that travel over the rear suspension and conenected to the front section via a Y pipe. This was done because the stock wk is a single system where the SRT is a dual system. The y pipe just converts it to a single system.

This pic show the SRT muffler completely removed and a single pipe welded in its place. this gave me a much better...and louder sound...exhaust tone.

Re: "Fake SRT8 Exhaust, opinions?

What scott did in those pics is exactly what i am doing only i am going to put the tips on each side of the trailer hitch.

Timmay, I bought my SRT8 exhaust W/o the muffler that had dual inlets.

What i got is both rear sections from the tips to just over the axle. Then i also got the two pipes that attach over the axle to the muffler. They seller cut off the muffler for me. Then i will use a Y pipe like scott did.

here is what i bought for $200 shipped.

Re: "Fake SRT8 Exhaust, opinions?

Ok, now im getting it.

Scott, does yours pass emissions? Or is it the cats that take care of all that smog? lol. And how does it sound, you have the V8 right?

So for my tiny V6 im thinking no muffler then, resinators only?? For a decent sound. But will it sound like a car with the exhaust hanging off?

Re: "Fake SRT8 Exhaust, opinions?

Cats are all you need to be worried about. And 99% of the places will never know that the two rear baffels/resonators on an SRT8 exhaust are not mufflers.

Have you looked in to the V6 exhaust thread in the general GC section? It will give you some ideas.

This is scotts vid but obv its a 4.7

Re: "Fake SRT8 Exhaust, opinions?

That does sound good in scott's video. I need to research how a dual V6 would sound now.

So all I would need is the srt pipes that go over the axle and the resinators, tips too. Then I can either do a "y" off my muffler or even remove the muffler entirely and weld in a straight pipe with a "y" back to the srt pipes at the axle.

Im sorry for being slow, but I never knew you had a dual exhaust set-up. So its a single muffler with two pipes after it going to the rear? And how much was that set-up? Im going to search to see if you have any write-ups on it.

Re: "Fake SRT8 Exhaust, opinions?

he had his done different them scott and wha ti am doing.

What scott did was a long single pipe from the flange back and then a Y pipe with the stock SRT8 rear sections. Thats what i am doing as well.

What frankie did was a Y pipe with 2 custom bent long pipes side by side, all the way under the jeep over the axle then used the stock SRT8 rear sections. He has a thread some where on its install. But he had to go back and have the pipes tweaked because they hit on the rear sway bar over bumps.

Re: "Fake SRT8 Exhaust, opinions?

Timmy-I think the V6 would sound aweosme if you did it like mine or like Frankies. But for sure lose the SRT muffler becasue it will be whisper quiet if you dont.
