Re: "Fake SRT8 Exhaust, opinions?

Awesome, I found Frankies write-up, very informative. Now i def have a better understanding of what is needed, and will lose the muffler entirely and use just the resinators. But now its a waiting game, to find a stock srt exhaust and only get the componants from the mufflers back. I know people have said they dont like clamps, but im thinking this is something I can do in my driveway if I dont go the fully welded route. I printed alot of those pix above to bring to the exhaust shop I used before and see what he says about it, price wise.

Is the stock srt exhaust stainless or aluminumized steel? The reason I went with the Magnaflow SS cat back is hopefully I never had to replace it, unlike on my previous 94 GC where I must of replaced every single thing under there because it fell apart from severe rusting.

The reason i wanted to do my first idea, single pipe leading to the middle with a dual tip, is because im confident I can pull off whatever I think up in my head and have it come out perfect to near perfect. And I hate paying people to work on MY car, just got ripped off from a shop that charged me 46 bucks to re-thread the front sway bar bolt I striped, when I could of bought the tools for 20 bucks and done it myself.

Last question, what do the resinators do exactly?

Re: "Fake SRT8 Exhaust, opinions?

the SRT exhaust is stainless steel and the resonators help to lose the drone

Here's a question, what about deleting the muffler, only installing one of the srt tail pipes and one resinator, then have dual tips coming off a Y pipe?

If youre thinking of that...Why not just have a custom setup done?

I dont see the need to keep 1 SRT pipe...Just have a straight pipe to a res at the end with a dual tip exit!

Re: "Fake SRT8 Exhaust, opinions?

I guess thats why im asking, with only having one pipe and one resinator how will it sound, hopefully not like a clunker that has the exhaust hanging off sounding like crap. As in, are two resinators needed to "muffle" the sound?

If anything, im not sure why people dont think my first idea with me routing a single pipe back to the middle of the bumper with a dual tip is that bad. Its not a true dual exhaust in the first place, and never will be. My cats lead to one pipe before the muffler. And im trying to see the advantage of spending $$$ for an srt exhaust, to use the dual pipes leading to the back with resinators and tips as opposed to my magnaflow muffler with one tail pipe to dual tips? Wouldnt it look the exact same standing in the back of the car?

I think 1 would be fine...I went from 1 to 2 and cant really tell that big of a difference! (Not sure if its cause I got used to it though)

I dont think its bad at all! Go for it!
