Re: Finally settled on a set of OE wheels

LOL, I need a house before i build another rolling money pit. Priorities dude.

I am still paying off credit debt from my old XJ and i dont even own it any more. I had over $10Gs in to that. I cant do that again. because once you start you dont stop. hence why my jeep currently has not amazing mods.

Re: Finally settled on a set of OE wheels

For now, I am going to keep the Stock GY Fortera HL tires. Come summer time i will decide on what to do. Run a nice nimble street tire in the stock 245/65/17 and buy a set of Studded snows for our harsh NH winters or just buy a good all terrain and run that year round.

I am thinking of getting Firestone Destination ATs or Hancook Dynapro ATm's or Cooper Discoverer ATR.

I know that the Coopers and the Firestones are all good tires and will work well. between them it will be a pricing thing that decides.

The Hancook look great and i will only get if i can get enough positive feedback on reviews of them and the price is right. Right now there is little info on those tires. I might steer clear of them i might not.

Re: Finally settled on a set of OE wheels

You guys might laugh at this, but 2 of the best sets of tires I've ever owned were Korean. Khumo Ecstas and Nankangs. I had both on 2 different modified Ford Contours, unbelievable performance. Just look for a solid center rib...

Re: Finally settled on a set of OE wheels

Nice choice Kyle.

Most of the Jeep wheels are actually pretty cool, especially the Moabs.

A nice set of chunky tires will awesome on those!

Re: Finally settled on a set of OE wheels

Thanks everyone. I might look at the Revo 2s but i have heard they are noisy for an AT. If i buy an AT it needs to handle well on the street and highway and be a good mileage tire but be good enough on dirt roads and rough winters.

I think in the end i will get the Cooper Discoverer ATR Because i love Cooper tires or i will get the Firestone Destination ATs.

There are tons of other tires i like but alot dont have alot of information readily available as far as reviews and experience with them. I also try to steer clear of non main stream tires unless for some reason i really like them.

For instance i really like the looks of the hancook dnapor atm but i dont know any more info on it then what pep boys tells me it should be, and its a new tire this year i think so there is not much out for reviews. When i am spending $700 ish on tires i want to be sure i am not wasting my money. i put alot of research and time in to deciding on tires. My mind will prolly change 10 more times before i finally buy a set.

I can get a deal on the Hancook Dynapro ATm tires right now at Pep Boys buy 3 get 4th free so if this review stands up i will seriously consider these. Still need to do a bit more research first.
http://www.fourwheeler.com/techartic...est/index.html

Then a read a thread like this and it scares me so this is why i try to stick to good name brand tires.
http://www.thedieselstop.com/forums/...-tires-165809/

Then i read this and it says its great. Its so back and forth i dont know what to trust.
http://www.titantalk.com/forums/tita...atm-fr10s.html

Its crazy because i am very torn on these VS the Coopers or Firestones. I seem to be finding more and more good info on them and i guess Hancook is a big name manufacturer. I guess they are also available in 4 and 10 ply as well. I really like the looks too so as long as i get some more Positive feedback i will keep them on the top of my list.

More Good.

Re: Finally settled on a set of OE wheels

Wheels are at the Massachusetts UPS depot. Should be here monday and should be mounted monday.

Now to save for some new Rubbers.

I think its going to be a tie between the Hancook Dynapro ATM and the Firestone Destination AT in a LT 245/70/17.

Re: Finally settled on a set of OE wheels

Wheels arrived mid day yesterday. But i had issues with the tire shops.

The TPMS system is part of the vehicles safety systems and cannot be removed by a shop legally. Even the shop that said they would take them off and put in reg valves backed out once the jeep was there, claiming that that employee was mis informed. So b/c i went in to this knowing i had 2 bad sensors noone would work on my jeep w/o new sensors.

Every tire shop i went to yesterday to get my new wheels put on said they would not do it w/o 4 functioning sensors so i have an appt to get the wheels done and sensors fixed at the dealership this saturday morning. Such BS but its what i had to deal with yesterday.

Here are the new wheels. I cant wait to get them installed.
