Finally settled on a set of OE wheels

So as i am sure many of you guys know there have been many different sets of stock WK/WJ/JK wheels i have been interested in. Well, after buying and selling JK 18s, wanting WJ chrome wheels, and a few other sets i decided that i am going to buy a set of Silver painted JK "x" model Moab wheels. Why? Why oe?

I want OE wheels because the fit properly, Jeep usually has pretty nice looking wheel and i am not a fan of most aftermarket wheels. I want to keep it 17" wheels because tires are expensive and i have no desire for big bling rims.

Why the Moab wheels?

Well My previous jeep as many know was a highly modified Cherokee XJ that i had Machined finish 16" 04 Rubicon Moab wheels on. I loved those wheels and i eventually painted them black. Then i sold that jeep. Now i got a slammin deal on a set of 4 Silver Painted 17" Rubicon/ "X" model wheels to continue my tradition. Though the WK is not getting lifted for a long time it will still be bad ass.

These are what i bought but no tires. Just 4 wheels. Should be here monday and hopefully mounted monday evening or tuesday some time.

They look great on the WK, Mine just wont be lifted.

My old XJ.

Painted the wheels gloss black

Here is a quick Photo shop of it.

Did you have adapters on the XJ? I thought the bolt pattern was different?

Re: Finally settled on a set of OE wheels

No, Jeep made 16" Moab wheels for the Wrangler from 04 to 06, they are the standard jeep 5 on 4.5 bolt pattern. The new wrangler is like the wk its 5 on 5 bolt pattern and they are a 17" wheel of similar design. the major difference besides the bolt pattern and rim diameter is the dish of the wheel is less on the JK 17" wheels because the new Wrangler and WK have wider axles then the XJ and Tj so the backspacing is different.

Re: Finally settled on a set of OE wheels

Thanks everyone. I really do miss my XJ. I am not used to being afraid of not being able to to a place because of road conditions or something big in my way.

The wk handles great in the snow but the stock tires suck in snow. i am used to have the confidence of the world in my tires in the snow. Its deff taking time to get used to the WK vs my old beast.

Re: Finally settled on a set of OE wheels

It's funny you say that because even from going from a 2" zj to the wk it's been a transition.. I probably never destroyed trails like you did in the xj but I sure as hell never thought twice about place I went to.. I'm still adjusting with the WK you should have seen me when I was messing around up in the Sierras this summer I was getting out and checking every 10 ft. in some places lol
