Dont know if this belongs here or in Offroad mods section.
I bought a set of Two hooks for my jeep because well you never know when your going to need them and not all WKs have them. (most jeeps for some reason only had them with certain packages and you would think being a JEEP that should be a standard item)
The install is very easy and takes about 45 mins to do.
To start open the hood and remove the 6 push pins that hold the grille in place and set them and the grille to the side.
Then remove the 4 smaller push pins that are located at the top seam of the bumper right under where the bottom of the grille clips to the bumper. Set aside.
Then go to each wheel well and remove the 2 Plastic rivets on each wheel well edge.
(note, you can buy new rivets on ebay for $10 for 20 pcs usually and about $25 for the rivet gun on just for jeeps, BUT, if you dont want to do that, you can buy the same size push pins used to hold the grille on and those will work fine to replace the plastic rivets.)
Then remove the 8mm bolts that are facing upwards from the bumper in to the front fender at the corner.
Then remove the 3 10mm bolts under the front middle of the bumper behind the air damn on the cross member. (i love cordless impact guns for this kind of stuff. )
Then carefully unclip each corner of the bumper under each side of the head light and unplug the fog lights and set bumper cover aside. there is no need to remove the bumper asorber.
Next find the black bulge covers that are located on each side of the front X member covering the access hole of the frame rail/unibody rail. remove each 10mm bolt and set aside. one bolt per cover.
Now this is where its easy or some what difficult.
If you have all the hardware for the hooks this is really easy. (hardware kit is $45 from just for jeeps.com)
The bolts are welded to a tab and you slide the tab in the frame rail and drop the bolts through the hole and there is no need to use 2 hands to hold the nuts and bolts.
Drop the longer frame tab in the holes and had tighten with hook in place. then drop in the single tab for the forward most hook bolt. tighten all hardware to 50ft lbs.
Repeat for the opposite side.
If you do not have the hardware kit like me then you need to go to the local hardware store and buy 6 grade 8 7/16ths bolts, 12 flat washers and 6 cut washer or lock washers and 6 lock nuts. (i had the 2 single bolt factory hardware tabs and only needed to buy 4 bolts and hardware to replace the 2 long 2 bolt tabs. )
Then you need to put 1 washer on each bolt and drop them in the holes 1 by 1.
Then put on 1 washer, 1 cut washer and 1 lock nut per and tighten all bolts evenly to 50 ft lbs.
Then re install frame access hole cover with 10mm bolt, re install bumper cover and all other hardware, grille and take pics.
Hooks are offered in black or chrome but the chrome ones do rust faster over time.
