Re: Grand Avalanche?

yeah with the propper bracing, its possible. They have done it to XJ, ZJ and WJ's. all unibody...

if you notch the body and fit bracing into it, you can even hide it all.

it would just be an insane amount of body work to make it look good...

Re: Grand Avalanche?

I friend of mine did this to his ZJ. He said it was one of the stupidest things he ever did.

Re: Grand Avalanche?

I'm willing to bet there is a helluva lot of math behind doing something like this correctly -- structural mechanics. It's not going to be just cut the back of the roof off, slap some steel around and be on your way. You don't want to to be mudding or crawling and have the frame start to twist or fall apart on you.

I'm not saying you thought it was going to be easy, just trying to emphasize the importance and work it will take to do this successfully and the danger of not doing it correctly.

Re: Grand Avalanche?

eh for the most part theres no math..millions of toothless wanna be welders have done this with no issues.. you just need to be able to see were things look weak and add bracing.

a little bit..you just need to replace roof structure, and make sure around the rear has a little bit of support, you dont need to add an interior cage..you need to put something in place, but it doesnt need to be alot...but a full interior cage is bitchin'
