Re: H8/H11/H16 Philips X-treme Ultinon LED Bulbs Vs Halogen Fog Light Bulbs

Do you have a recommendation on an HID conversion kit that xenon depot sells which will work with my vehicle? With the harness and h11 bulbs needed to do a full conversion? I apologize if there's already a lot of information elsewhere on this, but if anyone has a link on doing a full halogen to hid conversion on a wk2 I'd really appreciate it! I'll look around the forums as well. Thanks for all the info!

Hi,

Thank you for your interest in our product.

(1) Are you looking to upgrade the low beams or the fog lights?

(2) Does your vehicle have DRL?

The LED upgrade itself is plug n play. As for getting to your fog lights, if this is for Grand Cherokee then you can get to them via the wheel wells I believe.

Re: H8/H11/H16 Philips X-treme Ultinon LED Bulbs Vs Halogen Fog Light Bulbs

Hi Steve,

I have a 2012 Laredo X and I just swapped out the factory fog lights with the Quadratec LED upgraded lamps. I am not sure on the specs but I can tell you they are nice and white, very crisp. I purchased PIAA bright white bulbs for the headlights to try and match from another website but they screwed up, sent me the wrong ones.....needless to say, I have no desire to reorder from them. What set up would you recommend to give me best match? I searched XenonDepot's site by my vehicle and there are quite a few choices. Any help would be great.

To my knowledge, the factory bulbs are as follows: low beam = h11; high beam = 9005. I'm not sure but I don't think I have daytime running lights.

Hi @ToneBone,

I would suggest looking at our 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo X HID kit. It will come with everything you need to properly upgrade the low beams on your vehicle to HID.

In terms of color (Kelvin), I'm really not familiar with the fogs you have, but keep in mind that the higher you go in terms of kelvin the less actual useable light output you get.

Hi Steve,

Thanks for the explanation. As for color, are you referring to yellow or blue? Or just white?

And is this the kit referring to? I know the link was in your message but it looks different on the actual site.

Re: H8/H11/H16 Philips X-treme Ultinon LED Bulbs Vs Halogen Fog Light Bulbs

Hi, @ToneBone:

Kelvin - i personally am a fan of 4300k for the brightest, whitest, and most OEM functionality. You mentioned that you have LED fog lights installed, which may be closer to 6000k -- so just giving you aheads up that if you go with a 4300k kit they may not match your fog lights.

Link to Kit: I would go with our 2012 Grand Cherokee specific HID Kit kit to ensure you get the components you need for your vehicle:

XenonDepot | 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo X HID Kit | Xtreme H11 HID

Hi Steve,

I was able to figure out that the Quadratec LED fogs are 5800k so that helps me with choosing colors. So what is the big difference or benefit of the H11 LED kit vs. H11 HID Kit | Xtreme HID? Other than light output....seems that LEDs have a much longer lifespan (50k hours vs. 2500-3000 hours). Also, I'm not sure if I have CANbus or DRLs. Is there a way to confirm? Thanks for the help.

Hi,

"0ther than light output" is the biggest difference LEDs will be brighter then stock, but no where near as bright as HID. Furthermore HIDs will gets you the widest possible beam. The kit I linked you to above will come with everything you need to upgrade the lights on the vehicle.

Thanks for the reply. Only thing I don't know is whether I need the CANbus canceller/relay
