Re: How To Remove window moldings?

You are gonna have to replace the whole 1/4 window if you are trying to go chrome. I just blacked out all my chrome window moldings. The 1/4 windows were completely removed (professionally); the rear door moldings I had to take out the glass to get them to let go of the middle of the door; the front door moldings were easy with just the window rolld all the way down. The front two window moldings for my 07 had triangular clips on the side facing rear (one each) and then I just slide the moldings out. The rear door window moldings had two each IIRC. All and all, I won't lie...I broke at least 3 of theose damn clips...oh well. I used 3M double sided automotive tape and cut to length for the area where the clips were...NO issues!

Hope this is of at least SOME help...

Re: How To Remove window moldings?

I have removed mine as well to add the chrome moldings. Like Nifty said... I had the rear 1/4 window removed by a pro glass shop and then installed the chrome molding windows. You can get the chrome molding 1/4 windows on www.car-part.com. The other moldings are very easy IMO.
The front moldings i did remove the outside mirror which involved removing the front door panels(or atleast peeling them back to remove the three bolts holding the mirrors. Then i rolled the windos down and pulled up with force....while wiggling the molding back and forth. I started at one end and worked my way down. I didnt break any of the clips.
The moldings on the back doors are easier....just roll the window down and pull up with force while wiggling one end.

The most important part of this mod is to buy the right moldings. take a look at your outside mirrors and make sure you get the same moldings that you have now. Some WK's have mirrors that the moldings stop at the bottom of the mirror and some have moldings thst go "under" the mirror to the front fender. Call Peter at justforjeeps.com and he can make sure you have the correct moldings. be sure to mention your from JG for the discount.

Re: How To Remove window moldings?

lots of others use the trim brite tape on the window trim, if you do all 3 , it looks fine, and lasts a few years.

trim brite tape. http://www.amazon.com/Trimbrite-T900.../dp/B00029XD62

Re: How To Remove window moldings?

I was charged $100 to have my 1/4 windows removed and the new ones installed.

www.car-part.com is the BEST place to search for the 1/4 windows
