Katzkin Durability

My factory leather inserts can't stand up to my dogs' nails (the pleather faces are doing just fine). I'm thinking of replacing with Katzkin covers in leather faces with synthetic suede inserts (preferably perforated).

So, will the 'suede' inserts and leather faces stand up better to dog nails than the stock paper-thin leather inserts? I plan to keep the WK another 10-12 years - the stock seat leather isn't going to last that long - will Katzkins?

I did a general web search on this subject and found surprisingly little information.

Re: Katzkin Durability

My experiences with Katzkin leather I find to be pretty durable. But depending on how sharp your dogs nails are any leather will only withstand so much.

Re: Katzkin Durability

a couple of my 3000GT buddies have had Katzskins for 8-10 years with no problems...but dogs? You may need something other than leather and suede....

Re: Katzkin Durability

I had katskinz leather seats in a TJ Unlimited and they were great fitting, well made but dog nails, thats just scary. i say keep the dog in the back.

Dont do perforated. If you have the stock perforated wk leather now i am sure you can see that it collects stuff, as well as it will catch dog nails easier and cause more tears.

Re: Katzkin Durability

The basic replacements start at $500 uninstalled. The nicer kits with inserts can range up to $800. A normal kit with some extras is usually $1250 to $1500 installed.
