Most of you probably don't care but this is a project I never imagined myself tackling.
I ordered a set of 05-07 OEM Headlight Replicas for $117.andsomechange from 1A Auto.<<<<DIRECT LINK. Their shipping is very very fast. 2 business days and it was free.
First off, the visual quality is outstanding. I've held OEM headlights in my hands the same way I'm holding the reps and I do not notice a difference. The only difference I'm noticing is the glue (a definate clue that opening them should be a breeze).
I'm open to all advice while I journey through this process.
The projectors are coming soon.

Here is the glue. It's pretty soft. Should be simple to remove the lens. "Like Butter!" says Robpp.
I just noticed something today. There is a vent behind the aftermarket headlight to prevent moisture build up inside. I don't know if the OEM headlight assembly has this or not. I know that it's good to have though.
Yeah, I'm 24. I've been skating since I was 8. My first board was an original Banana Board. A classic. Wish I still had it.
They come with covers, bulbs, and wire harness. That vent is something I've never seen on the OEM headlights. In about to take a look under the hood now to see if the vent is on the OEM's.
ive been skating forever as well im 29 been skating for 16 yrs or so and love it. first love never dies ya know- thats good to hear theres another member here who skates
ive never looked for one but have only handled standard halogen headlamps once- i got pretty familiar with the HID versions though, a lil different but basically the same..im curious to see what that sellers headlamps look like from behind for the HID "look a likes" though...
Ok so maybe there is a vent on the OEM headlights. If so, why the hell did my passenger side headlight hold so much moisture in the past??? (rhetorical question)
The amber reflector pops right off of the chrome (carefully so you don't break the tabs that hold it on). There is a rectangular hole in the chrome for that marker bulb to shine through.
In regards to Tilla's question, quite a few of the 05-07 aftermarket light brands come with the covers for the top of the headlight. I have seen some that don't though.
There is a 47 year old guy that skate here in the town I'm currently in. He's the best in town. He said he's going to be the greatest when he's 50. He skate drunk too and that builds up his confidence. He's awesome. Lol.
I'm hoping that I can remove the amber reflector completely. I wonder if it would look good if I leave it off.
haha, i got a couple friends who are at the age in skateboarding--shhh dont say 45'ish is old to them though-- but really, its like wine...we get better with age. besides after a certain point we end up skating bowls and minis more often and i love half pipes. its wine baby!:thumbsup:
if you want SOME AMBER you need to tape off the part where the side bulb shines thru.
and with the window weld.....i pull it a bit to make sure I can fit it in the channel. i also lay it all in the base then I heat it up BEFORE I stick it together.
i used some strap clamps to then squeeze it all together. i use a squeeze clamp all around the outside rim too.
I know about stretching the Windo Weld. I have money put aside for clamps and all the other stuff I need.
Strap clamps? I have to make sure I get the right size squeeze clamps.
I'm debating rather if I should paint the front bezel with my WK paint code. In talking about painting the front bottom and circles around the reflectors that DCspecials painted Red on the demon quads. And then I'll leave the reflectors and shrouds chrome.
my first set was JUST PAINTED and i left everything that was 'vertical lines' chrome but it was a PITA taping it off. need gentle tape or the chrome comes off UGH/ either paint or leave the entire reflector set/
the strap clamp i found at the depot in clamp area. its like a ratchet strap but much longer. the reason i did it with them was due to the shape of the light is kind of hard to squeeze it back together. the strap can go around most any shape/
I know but I really want to keep it stock as much as possible.
But at the same time, I might open them again in the future to add projectors for the high beams. I might decide to go ahead and add high beam projectors if I'm comfortable with the labor.
Who knows where this project will end up. That's why I said I'm open to all suggestions.
I wouldn't mind adding those LEDs in 6k that add a glow to the housing. The DCspecials LEDs in red from his recent build. How do I go about doing that???
No. I wasn't talking about that. I was talking about the glow that come from the top of the housing.
You know what, **** this shit! I'm just gonna spray the housing with color code PB8 dark blue and install a set of those angel eye rings you have in 6k.
Got a link for those so I can order them?
Might as well do the shit. Told you guy I wanted all your opinions. What else should I do?
dont do what we think is best.........you have to drive it man!!
if you want to keep it chrome........do it!!!
I just personally didnt like the look of the chrome with quads.
Ive seen some good chrome ones with single projector kits
honestly
I think if you spray the housings blue and leave the chrome circles it would look hot!
go check out dcspecials picture posts..........he has a set of blue ones in there with the circles..........then just imagine a set of projectors in there!!!!
And lol. My mind is just brainstorming with ideas over here. Just so many options. I'd hate to do what I originally wanted to do and then want to do more when finished.
I'm signing off of this thread until I make some progress.
