locks for wheels

Hello does anyone know a good grand besides mcgard for lugnut locks. The reason I cant get Mcgard is because the ones I need are the black ones part Num 24038 and everywhere I look online they are out of stock and mcgard is out of them too, they said they have to order them and basically I would get them in like 3 weeks. Is gorilla any good or any other suggestions?

Do you think these would be just as good as the mcgard ones and would fit with the srt8 reps. Also what is 13/16 hex socket on these.

Re: locks for wheels

Dont bother. All wheel locks do is guarantee your wheels get stolen and you have a broken window. Every thief knows the key is in the truck. Where else would it be?You have to keep it with you just incase you get a flat. They just smash your window find the key and now you gota replace wheels and windows! And maybe suffer from a messed up interior from a night of rain/snow or the broken glass. Not worth it.

Re: locks for wheels

to answer the question and keep my opinion to myself:

the gorilla locks are fine, they would offer you the same results as mcgard.
as you see the issue is the 13/16 vs 3/4 for stock. you will need another lug wrench if you use those.

Re: locks for wheels

Only brands I've heard of is McGard, Mopar, and Gorilla. Is there any specifics that I should know as to which wheel lock I need for an 04 GC?

Re: locks for wheels

ive got mine coming to my house dec 1st. They were shipped alot sooner than expected. If you need some that are black, go to amazon.com and look up mcgard locking lugs part #24038. They will ship sooner than the 3 week expected ship date. Mine only took a week.

I strongly (and politely) disagree. In these situations time is of the essence, and so is "noise". A thief is going to smash a window to steal valuables inside a car, but I have never heard of a situation where wheels were stolen after a thief smashed a window, spent the time to search for the wheel locks, and then stole the wheels.

For anyone with expensive wheels, not installing wheel locks is just asking for the wheels to be stolen. Yes, I know, many wheel locks can be defeated, but most attempts to steal wheels are by non-professional crooks. Plus, most of the defeat devices are special sockets that have to be hammered over the lock (noisy, and not always successful). In all cases, wheel locks will slow down the time it takes to steal the wheels, sometimes considerably.

A lot of the SRT owners buy the 20-set gorilla locks, which means a thief is going to have to hammer on all 20 of the locks and spend quite bit of time to remove them all. Some owners have even used two different brands/styles of wheel locks to make removing them more difficult.

No broken windows in these pics, and all were situations WITHOUT wheels locks installed:

Re: locks for wheels

I duno i have seen it happen a few times. Smash a window out using a cloth and hammer. Makes very little nouse. If the windows are tinted the noise is even less. The guys who stole the wheels off my friends 3 series were even nice enough to leave him with 4 little piles of lug nuts and even left him his wheel lock key! Reach in open the door and the key can be found in the glove box, console, or spare tire well. As for Scottina06 who doesnt keep there key in the car? Where else are you going to keep it?

Re: locks for wheels

Your forgot this one which apparently happened in Manhattan , poor SRT (this one hurt me)

I say wheels locks do not hurt, I agree with Fabian completely also. Atleast in some of those case those cars were left on blocks, others left without anything which created even more damage to the bottom

And heres a Camaro just for you Camaro lovers.
