Hello all,
Thought i'd share my little weekend project.
I noticed that my brake rotors looked a little tired and beat up and with spring coming we can't have that now can we lol. I'm guessing the guys at the dealership really don't care about being careful while rotating tires and hitting our calipers.
That being said, I decided to try to re-paint these things myself..... with no painting experience I did some reading and watched a few videos and jumped in. I decided to leave the calipers on because I do not have the time for a complete removal and disassemble, maybe next year when I change the color again. I purchased a dremel tool with a sanding bit kit (so worth the money), dust mask/respirator, painters tape, plastic drop cloth, all VHT paint products (high temp primer, paint and clear).
Started by sanding the old coating off. From what I have read and watched all you need to do is scuff it up a bit but I thought I would get better results removing most of the old. I hit it with the air gun to blow the dust and debris off. Sprayed it down with brake clean to clean the entire work area, blow gun again. Once the work area is clean, clear and dry take you time and prep. This might be one of the biggest slowest parts of the process but it pays off at the end. Tape and put plastic everywhere you do not want paint and take your time.
3- coats primer
3- coats blue
Brembo decals
3/4- coats clear
I think it turned out very well, I'm happy  Here are some pics
