as for the paint, any automotive paint will work. I have used basepaint from automotivetouchup.com and duplicolor from local auto store(autozone/autobarn).
Most important step is the prep. Once it is open, strip it with a strong degreaser, sand off all the chrome. Primer is up to you, i did 2 sets, 1 with and without the primer and still looks perfect. Clearcoat as well, i decided not to clear mine since i ran into some bad luck with it when doing some other pieces.
Give yourself a 2-3 days off just incase you run into some probs with it.
