painting side mirrors

So Im going to have Daniel paint my side mirrors inferno red tinted pearlcoat. I dont want to just get mirror covers painted, I want something more permanent so Im going this route. Anyway does anyone have an extra set of mirrors I could borrow for 2 weeks and then ship them back??? or I am just going to buy some bicycle mirrors from walmart and hook them up, lol

Re: painting side mirrors

I would look on car-part.com or ebay for a set and have them shipped to Daniel. Then just resell the ones off your Jeep? Maybe another WJer wants to do the same?

thats true, or I could buy some from the dealership and see if they will let me refund them before I buy them.

Re: painting side mirrors

well the dealership had them for like 600 for both! wow. I called autozone and they have them for 99 a piece and have a 90 return policy. I will probably just get them from autozone and make sure they stay mint and return them.

Haha I get what you're doing... I wanted to have my tail lights tinted sometime, but I can't go a day without driving unfortunately...

Re: painting side mirrors

you should do what downstate did, He used some thin tape stuff, doesnt look too bad. cant remember the name of it. Send him a pm on what he used, alot of people use it while they are getting tinted.

Re: painting side mirrors

I had the same problem as you Brooke. I ended up tinting my tails in a few hours while putting the lift on. Just used VHT Nightshades and I love the way it turned out!

Back to the original topic - I want to match my mirrors as well but I was told the best option would be to get the chrome covers and paint them. Would I be better off painting straight on the existing mirrors?

Re: painting side mirrors

i dunno its up to you.The factory mirrors need to be smoothed out. If you have Daniel do it, he primes them and has them sit for a week because it can shrink and cause the texture to show back up if you dont wait so its a longer wait to get the originals done.

Don't know how strict they are about the tails in PA but in NC I've had plenty of cops sitting right behind me at red lights and have never had a problem with anyone.
