Painting wheel bolts

I want to paint the bolts that hold my wheels in place red, and I was wondering what the right process would be..

I'm pretty sure I just;

Sand

Primer

Paint

Dry

Bolt back in

Yeh?
P.S. What grit sandpaper should one use?

Just checked online, and they don't have any near me, is painting them a bad idea?

Yea cuz whenever you torque them back on you'll more than likely scuff off the paint. I bought some mcgard spline drive lugnuts that came in red. Lil pricey as far as lugnuts go tho.

Re: Painting wheel bolts

Yeah, I think the lug wrench and sockets will scrape and chip paint. I'd save a few bucks and buy anodized ones. Or maybe try plasti-dip. Everyone seems to have great luck with that stuff being super durable.

I havnt used it personally, but I hear the plasti dip comes in a few different colors. Red being one of them. You might check lowes or home depot and see what they have in stock.
