Piaa Lighting Problem

Okay i am not sure if this is in the correct subject, but yea if anyone could help me that would be great..

Okay so i have had PIAA 510 extreme white driving fog lights for a while and have had no problems, but recently i noticed that one light was not working, i took a look and noticed that there was a crack in the lens..

The lens was cracked and there was water in the lamp, i checked out the other lamp and noticed the same thing.. but the other one was magically still working haha..

There were no chips in the glass, so i can only assume that after running the lights for a while, they over heated and cracked the lens, allowing water in and therefore getting the bulb wet..

So i sit here.. looking at my fog lights, completely out of ideas...

i attempted to open a lamp and take the bulb from it and maybe just replace the bulb and get a new lens, but its not that simple... after looking at the lamp, the lens is glued, or was glued to the lamp ( i say was because i got a little angry and its no longer on there ) and there is no way to get the bulb out..

Has anyone had this problem? any thoughts of what to do? i am completely out of ideas, and was thinking about purchasing yellow fogs from piaa.. but then again don't wanna spend the money if this problem can be fixed..

I am just so frustrated that i have to go through everything, take out the bulbs, take out all the wiring, just for something like this, if i got new bulbs, i would get the yellow bulbs to prevent any over heating in the future, but then again would they work with the lamps i have? oh man im so.. wow

Re: Piaa Lighting Problem

I had PIAA driving lights on my last car and had very similar problems. I spent the money to have them fixed but it seems like they broke again very quickly. After the first repair the lens did not really fit correctly and I was constantly trying to get the fixture to stay in one solid piece.

I'm not impressed with the quality of these. The light output was great but overall too much of a headache for me.

Those are how the PIAA lights look, what i plan to do this weekend it just take them apart like so i have them all in separate pieces and just see what i can do with them, change the bulb and seal them back up and change the lens,

Re: Piaa Lighting Problem

you can replace the lights. At least on the 510's and 550's that I use. There is a philips screw on both of m y sets that is covered with a small rubber piece to keep the water out.

Just un-do the screw and mine pop right out.

I looked at your pictures and mine seem to be a very different reflector design though, but you should be able to take them apart in the same way.

I LOOOOOOOOOVE this look (same reason, the covers) but I have HIDs in my fogs and its a better light output for my needs. Wonder if I can use just the housing and put my HIDs in there??
