Re: Pics of the Windshield Tint

And I am not too sure on whether this is a 50% film. Lots of people tell me its darker. IDK

Re: Pics of the Windshield Tint

My friend has 35% all around and told the guy he wanted 50% on the windshield. Honestly it looks 35% and not 50% lol. Still looks nice though on his saab.

Re: Pics of the Windshield Tint

Hey I want to get my windshield tinted too, but I'm worried about the little bit of dot matrix. Did anyone have a problem with this/has this been answered before? I was told that it would turn white...does anyone have pics of this or advice?

Thanks

Re: Pics of the Windshield Tint

I am a tinter over in WI and I can tell you that around here you would not get away with 20% or even 35% on the windshield. One of our local state patrols is a tint nazi so I remove film quite a bit for people so I'm sure he'd have no problem spotting those. It does look good though. I have a 5% strip on the front of mine right now down to the bottom of the mirror bracket but going to tint the whole windshield soon with Llumar brand 80% film. Its called Air80. Nobody will know it's really there but you and it will block just about the same amount of heat.

As far as the dots around the windshield, yes, you will end up with that silver spotty looking border because as the film dries, its not able to stick to glass in between dots. The only way to combat that is to A) Paint that border with some black enamel or B) Sand down the dots.

Re: Pics of the Windshield Tint

Thanks for the advice. I ended up getting the windshields 50% with 5% on everything else. I like it, but I think I might go back and get another layer on the windshield to make it closer to 35%, tints kinda addicting, I want it darker.

Re: Pics of the Windshield Tint

2 for 3... did you do that extra 5% to make it match the factory rears more, or was it just a personal touch?

Re: Pics of the Windshield Tint

Yea my front driver side and passenger side are just straight 5%, but the back five windows are 5% over the factory tint, 15%, or 20% leaning towards 15% cause they were darker than usual. With the 5% or the 15% you can't even see in the back when you go up and cup your hands to the window. I thought with 5% all around though that 50% on the windshield would look pretty dark, but debating on either getting another layer, or just the eyebrow. Oh and I ended up not having a problem with the dot matrix, so I was pretty stoked on that!

2 for 3, you running 5% on 20% on all the windows besides the windshield? Probably looks sick!

Re: Pics of the Windshield Tint

Everything. I do not advice it though. I have to depend on a camera to see at night.

Factory isn't 15% for sure. It's more like 20%.
