Re: Plasti-dip strikes again!

I took the wheels off. It took a little longer to get the job done but it was alot easier to tape around the rim than having to put newspaper behind it and worrying about the calipers and whatever.

Ah the good ol ant in your pants eh?! Haha nice. Painters tape works well. Just remember the paint adheres to everything so it will bond to the tape too. Gotta remove it right after. Or use an exacto knife to cut it off

Re: Plasti-dip strikes again!

Looks Sick!!! I'm gunna try this mod, I have the same wheels only on a Silver Jeep. Where did you get the paint and is it just all flat black like that or do they make a glossy one??? It looks awesome!

Also, what did you clean your wheels with before you painted? Anything in particular? Thanks!!!

Its called plastidip. Comes in spray cans, just pick it up at homedepot or whichever hardware store you use. It is just flat black, but maybe if you use clear coat after you'd get a glossy finish? not sure about that. but just clean your wheels like you'd usually do. nothing fancy.

Re: Plasti-dip strikes again!

Awesome! This might be my weekend project! Just one can does all four wheels? How long is drying time? Thick or thin coats and how many? Sorry for all the questions, newbie here! Thanks!

No, you'll need at least four cans. The can says 30-40 minutes in between coats i think. official drying time is like 4 hours. do lots of thiner ones, you don't want overspray, because it'll run. just don't hold spray button when painting, do strokes where you spray and let go. if that makes sense... we don't mind questions, hit us with more if you have em!

Re: Plasti-dip strikes again!

Yes! It makes sense deff!! Thank you so much! I'll have to post pictures, its suppose to be in the 60s up here in Albany this weekend so i'll take advantage. You guys said Home depot carries this stuff? Also is it all just flat or is there a glossy version too?? This is really got me pumped considering I was gunna eventually just get the wheels powdercoated. $12 dollars verses $150 a wheel, I'll go $12. lol
