Question on Vinyl wrapping

I know there are numerous topics on this but I don't recall seeing the expectation around price. I am interested in getting the chrome trim around my windows wrapped in black vinyl. One place I reached out to in my area - Central PA - quoted me $460+ for this....does this sound accurate???? Seems pretty steep to me. I see guys doing this kind of stuff on YouTube and it doesn't seem that intensive!

Any help would be great. Thanks fellas.

You should be paying no more than half that quote.

Re: Question on Vinyl wrapping

That's what I was thinking also. They mentioned they do trim pieces but it's labor intensive to remove them etc. these don't come off if I recall? Thanks for the heads up.

Re: Question on Vinyl wrapping

They don't need to be removed to wrap and removing them would be VERY involved. Sounds like these guys are trying to take advantage of you or they dont know what they're doing.

Don't let them remove them, the black appliqués on the doors are installed after the chrome trim is installed in the plant and they are an adhesive, not clipped in. They will be ruined.

Re: Question on Vinyl wrapping

Thanks for the info guys...I think this was someone who is comfortable with doing vinyl wraps for businesses and didn't have time for what I was asking.

Re: Question on Vinyl wrapping

Hey guys, I had mine sprayed black - chrome door mounds and front grill chrome inserts. However now the paint is chipped. To wrap them do I need to take the paint off back down to its base before wrapping ? Does jeep sell the front grill moulds in gloss black standard ? Cheers

Re: Question on Vinyl wrapping

It all depends on how bad the paint is chipping. If it's not too bad and there's not a huge difference in levels, you could probably have it wrapped right over. But I would recommend sanding it all off. At the very least scuffing it. I just got mine wrapped over the weekend and it looks great.

As for the grille inserts, I haven't seen any that are black; only chrome. But they sell multiple style/color grilles on allmoparparts.com. I've bought several items from them and they've all been great. Pretty good prices too.

Question on Vinyl wrapping

A bit delayed but...

In my opinion don't paint the window trims, it will very hard to correct if it will chip, and there are very big chances it will, eventually..
Wrapping is a very good and comfortable solution, but it means work, I estimate about 2.5 hours at least..
If you have some experience you can do it by your self, if not it should be approximately 200$ or just a bit over.
Don't even think about removing that chrome, the rear triangles are one piece with the glass.

There are black grill rings all over also the lower vents are available. ( Oem or not, on ebay &amazon)
But i think it's cheaper to take them off which is easy as long as you put some tape on the grill around the rings so you don't scratch &chip the grill when extracting the rings. ( watch some movies on YouTube first).

Or there is always plasti dip for a harmless reversible DIY..

Enjoy ;-)

Thanks for that mate ! Do you have any idea what material/ liquid would be best to remove all the paint off the chrome window trim ? It's starting to flake off more now and I want to remove it all.

Cheers
