Removed most of the badges

This was a pain... I hate the look of bumper stickers and most stock badges that come on cars these days. When I first bought the jeep it had a big ugly plastic badge from the dealership which came off very easily. I'm guessing it was a lesser quality tape and had not been on the vehicle all that long.

Today I set out to remove the 4X4, 5.7L, and LIMITED badges my jeep still carried. I was a little worried about the paint being faded over the past couple years, but convinced myself that Silver did not absorb enough light, UV, whatever to make a difference.

Round #1

So I set out to the driveway with an iced coffee, a bottle of goo gone, and a thing plastic spatula thing... First attempt wast to just pry the badge off and deal with the residue later. This became quickly frustrating and I began to search for a better solution.

Round #2

Thinking the plastic thing was too big to handle this project carefully I made the switch to fishing line. (After playing around with some other stuff this seemed to make the most sense...) The fishing line was great, it fit nicely behind each letter and gave me a better angle to pull from. Unfortunately the glue on these badges was so strong the line kept braking. FML...

Round #3

So this project taking much longer than I anticipated is starting to bother me. Now, I don't know why I didn't try this at the beginning... but I break out an old hair dryer and heat up the letters and glue. I continue to use the fishing line and bam! Ten minutes later all the badges are on the ground!

Just cleaned up the residue with a little bit of the GooGone and a clean towel.

Looks Great!

Very clean, good write up too!

I like the 4x4 badge .. it's Jeep heritage. Trail Rated badge is long gone though. I've removed both Jeep emblems but people still know it's a Jeep ;)

I see the other side, if I saw a car with no badges I used to assume that it was in a wreck at one point.
