Side View mirror turn signals.

I have always liked the stock style ford LED Turn signals in the side view mirrors as well as the in glass style turn signals found in other car makers.

I Want something like this for my WK and decided to do a little research. I originally wanted to make a row of red or amber LEDs drilled in to the mirror housing under the glass where the lip is. But i decided that i dont want to chance ruining my mirrors so i bought these Arrow shaped Red LED mirror signals from my work (i temp work at auto zone)

The arrows stick to the glass and then the wiring needs to be routed behind the glass, through the mirrors stock wiring harness or harness holes in to the door and in to the jeeps front fenders to be connected to the stock signal wires.

My questions are, with the stock mirror off the jeep, is there any way to snake through the wiring harness behind the mirror so i can still fold the mirror and not interfere with anything?

Next, these lights have LEDs like the ones in the stock dash parts on a circuit board. What are the odds of them having resistance built in? Do you think i will need to soldier in resistors?

The wires are at the tip of the arrow and get wrapped behind the mirror. I will try to run a snake through the stock wiring location so there is no binding on the wires and they can sit loosely but still snug behind the glass.

They sell resistors for LED bulb conversions, will these work or do i need a different kind of resistor?

No one said this would be easy but i think it will be cool when done.

FYI, I dont like the in fender euro style signals.

Lights i bought. Very simple with a ground wire and power wire.

I reckon you'd be better served installing a couple of LED's in the plastic part of the mirror housing on the underside, facing the ground. It would be discreet, and if you didn't like it, easily removed and plugged and no one would be the wiser.
Just me, and NOT hatin bro, but I wouldn't stick those arrow things on my Jeep.

I agree with Ben.

Plunging 4 or 5 bright red or amber LED's in the bottom of the mirror and having them poke out of the bottom would look pretty sweet.

The ones you posted... ehh, they look a little gaudy and would probably look out of place.

I know, I got them for $5 with my store discount, and i think if i dont use them this way i might be able to open them up and use them w/o the red cover and hide them or modify them. We will see. i am not putting them on for a while but they are always removable and i can re use the wiring if need be.

I saw them online somewhere....sorry i dont remember where. they are similar to the signals on my wifes Is250....but built into the covers

That sounds cool, i looked on ebay and on google and all i could find were regular mirrors with signals built in and mirror covers with cut outs for mirrors with signals.

The other thing is i dont want mirrors with signals on the front like a mercedes i want them on the back on the glass side so people beside me can see them.

I only want these b/c it seems like alot of people have tried to merge in to me lately.

I may still install these any way and if i dont like it i take them off and try something else.

Ok, well i am going to play with these for now, i just tested them with a 9V and they are pretty damn bright. I also want red not amber b/c none of the rear lights on my WK are amber so amber would be out of place to me.

We will see what happens after they are installed.

Well, thats why they were cheap. I will try them, if i dont like them or they look like shit or are in the way, they will come off and i will just use the wiring i will do for a different setup.
