SRT8 Rails w/out tape

I would like to use my stock rails from time to time like when I take my Kayak out, so Im just wondering if anyone has put the roof rails on with out the double sided tape?

Re: SRT8 Rails w/out tape

you cant put the SRT rails on without tape...theres really no way to attach them unless you put a very small, thin strip of 2x tape on the edges. The SRT covers have a rail that they slide on to install them. That rail has to be 3m 2x taped down for the rails to slide on...

So the rails are the small plastic pieces with the tape on them, (well the residue of tape) in the middle of the big plastic cover.

Re: SRT8 Rails w/out tape

the rails that you see on the truck...are acually covers. Those covers slide on a rail that is 3m taped to the roof. I guess you could just unbolt the covers, slide them off and put the wk rails back on to attach your cross rails too for when you want to haul something on your roof. But the rail will remain for when you want to put the SRT covers back on...
