I just got my SRT8 replica wheels and tires installed tonight. I have a quick picture from my cell I thought I'd share...too excited!
We're supposed to get more rain tomorrow but after the weather calms down I plan to clean everything up and get some better pictures. I've never changed wheels/tires on a car before and had a few little hiccups: apparently the chrome lugs I bought don't fit and the front drivers tire hemorrhaged 11 PSI--33%--in the first hour or so but seems to be holding air now...who knows? Otherwise this has been a pretty fun mod and I'm really pleased with the result.
Thanks! I'm really happy with how they turned out. Can't wait to clean it up and get high res pics when the rain stops. Snapped another cell phone pic this morning:
I haven't adjusted the tpms nut (as robpp suggested) but the tire seems to be holding air fine now. Weird.
So, I ordered them from factory reproductions and they guys there were excellent. I went with 20x9 all around so I could rotate the tires and not worry about trying to find staggered tires I would be happy with. The shipping was a little less since I'm in CA but the wheels alone are listed on ebay for about $1000. They sell either a set of 4 20x9 or a staggered set for the same price, I believe.
The tire shop told me the lugs didn't fit but I'm going to try to fit one on myself and contact factory reproductions once I understand exactly how it is they're off. Finally, I went with 275/45R20 Goodyear Eagle GTII tires. The price was decent ($130 per tire) and the treadwear was better than the 255/45R20 (stock front SRT size) Goodyears I was looking at. So, my speedometer will be off now but...enh.
Last thing: can anyone recommend a locking lug nut brand or merchant or something to me? I'm not really familiar with quality, etc. but I might just go pick up a set of them at the parts store for $15. The mopar locks seem over priced to me (and not chrome).
The one in the dark was actually in front of Chick-Fil-A in Oxnard (I loves me some CFA) shortly after I had them installed. The one in the light was at UCSB the next morning.
UCSB alumn! Your 5 year is coming up...how's feel? I finished my undergrad in 2004, so my 5 year just passed. Makes me feel old.
I'm currently matriculating at UCSB as a graduate student. I've been here since 2007 and I still have a couple years left...whew. Basically that means I'm broke and probably shouldn't be spending a bunch of money on wheels!
