SRT8 rims refinished

Well im buying a 07 SRT8 that is still under warranty till September. The problem with the rims is that the clearcoat finish is peeling on the middle of the rim. This combined with roadrash on the two rims with a peeling finish make me want to get them repaired.

IF Chrysler wont replace them, (still looking for a more definitive answer) how much am i looking at to get these rims refinished?

I'm located in New Jersey so a local place would be helpful but I could ship them out I guess.

Thanks in advance, not getting much help at the other forum

Talk to Aaron (Motteler621) I think he got his redone, not positive but I do know he has my old fronts and from his pictures he did something to make them look amazing again!

Re: SRT8 rims refinished

i just cleaned them real good especially the backs and used a few coats of sealant on them to keep them protected. Use simple green with a 3m metal polishing pad only on the inside part of the rim, not the face of the rim, if they are really dirty.

You should be able to clean them yourself with simple green on the inside of the rims and the outside just use a car soap and use sealant on them. If you want to fix the clearcoat peel then just get them recleared. Its not much money but the thing is I read on the srt8 forum that they come from the factory with a clearcoat that is put on in a similar fashion as powdercoating which makes it stronger than spray clear. I would look into the powdercoat clear and compare prices to spray clear.

Re: SRT8 rims refinished

yea ive heard that. Its only like a 100 a wheel too. I read alot of good reviews from people about that place on their srt8 rims but also few negative ones. I mean its a used car so you dont really need the dealership to replace them with brand new ones. Try to get the dealership to pay to have a Jeep factory redo them.
