EVIC. Still, my driving involves a significant amount of highway miles vs city.

My experience exactly. EVIC is typically around 21 to 22+ mpg, Fuelly is averaging 20.1 mpg through the past 10 fills. I have a very mixed use of highway/freeway and suburban/residential driving with minimal rush hour stop and go.

My 6 shifts flawlessly at any speed. Not just good, but great.

Light foot or heavy foot it reads your mind.

This is in eco mode.

Re: 1 Year Review with the V6 Pentastar

Mine is also a '12 and with 90% of the torque peak from 2000 rpm to 6300 rpm & and a 2.2:1 TQ I am at a loss to understand the purpose of an 8 speed.

Do live in the Flatlands of Florida (highest point is a ride at Dizzworld) but have visited interesting parts of NC. Also regularly tow a 3,500 lb travel trailer (deliberately one with very low frontal area) and have pleanty of power but usually just put in cruise at 65ish when towing and 70ish when not. All temps stay low.

Is one of the lightest GCs at 4475 and if I had one that was over 5k then the 6 probably would not be a good idea (do not see that mentioned but are some that are 1,000 lbs heavier than mine).

All I can say is that the '12 with Pentastar is the best tow car I have ever owned. (and from what I've seen, the slowest depreciating).

I think the point of the 8 speed is fuel efficiency; yes the 5 speed can work very well in a large rpm range, but will obviously use more fuel at higher rpms. More gears = same power output but at lower rpms.

Re: 1 Year Review with the V6 Pentastar

I am actually very happy with the engine and the transmission in my early 2014 V6. I think it is a phenomenal combo. In fact I would live to have this 8 speed granny in my turbocharged Subaru.

The 8 speed also increases towing capacity by 25% by I can see the Pentastar being more than capable in a 5 speed.
