I've got the dealer down to $43,414...2011 grand cherokee v-8 summit mineral grey (sticker $49,200) should i wait for 2012's. Very tempting it seems like a good deal....-need your help, I would be upgrading for a 2000 GC limited.

It's up to you but that is a good price. 2012's biggest difference besides a bunch of new color choices is the new 6-spd transmission which gets a slight bump in fuel economy 13/20 now vs. 13/19 on the 2011 5-spd. Do you plan on keeping the car a long time or selling it in a few years? You'll take a HUGE hit on depreciation right after you drive it off the lot since the 2012s are now arriving at dealerships (mka18 is getting his today).

Your dealer won't be able to make up the depreciation because the incentives aren't large enough. You are also forgetting that the 5spd will depreciate compared to the 6spd because it's a new add although not a model refresh. I'm in the same boat and have decided to go for a 2012 and order it.

^That's a good price on the 2011 Summit V8. If that's the configuration and color you want, and you gotta have the Summit interior and doo dads then get it.

If you are a really, really, really patient person and don't mind waiting to pay more, do the 2012.

But your also paying for that new transmission. It's so close in dollars I don't think it makes any sense to split hairs. I'd get the 2011 and take the 15K free miles. In 2 or 3 years they are coming out with the 8 speed , so should you just wait for that one also? When that one comes out it's going to hurt your resale just as much anyway.

The 8-spd is for the V6...haven't heard anything about it being for the HEMI and since the OP is opting for the HEMI that point is invalid. I agree it's splitting hairs overall since the price difference is so small. It really boils down to how long he'll keep the car.

2011...almost identical to the 2012. Which ever you get, it's new. That's a very good price AND you get it NOW and at that very good price. The prudent choice is to get the 2011 now and enjoy....
