'11 vs '12 V6??

Did anything change between years? Why does Jeep now list the MPG 16 and 23 for the 2012 models compared to 16 and 22 for 2011?

2012 Electro-hydraulic power-assisted steering is also new for the V-6-powered trim and gives 1MPG more than 2011.

Seriously? Well that would explain the lighter steering. Where did you get this info?

Re: '11 vs '12 V6??

He is pretty much right about the steering

Less drag on the engine at a near idle speed will make it more efficient, if these cars had a traditional clutch fan assembly the MPG would drop by 3mpg.

and yes it is confirmed my Mom's late '11 has a power steering pump and my early '12 had the electro hydralic steering.

There is no real difference if feel to me but as the cars break in we will see both have less the 2000 miles on them.

Re: '11 vs '12 V6??

Is the only difference going to an electric driven hydraulic pump (vs belt driven), or have they actually changed to a different assist system? Just changing the pump to electric shouldn't have any effect on feel but a different assist system would.

Re: '11 vs '12 V6??

I thought it was just the pump changed. The 2012's have no pulley going to the pump. That one less thing drawing power from the engine results in the 1 mpg increase.

I can't see Chrysler wanting to muck around with handling characteristics in just the 2nd model year.
