Well as long as we are nit picking:

"Under no circumstances should oil change intervals exceed 8,000 miles (13,000 km) or 6 months, whichever comes first."

But yeah I am willing to admit when I am wrong, you are correct it does say 8000 miles in the book.

Re: 11 WK First Oil Change Question

Weird because my 2011 Overland was telling me "Oil Change Due" at like 4,500 miles? I am at 5k now and am going to get it changed and probably the tires rotated as well for S&G's...probably go synthetic too!

Dittos. The only concern I have regarding the initial factory oil fill would be the cross-contamination (if we can call it that) of the assembly lube used when the engine was built. Someone else mentioned if there is a point that is too soon to switch to synthetic; there is no point too soon, IMHO. I've had a few cars come from the factory stating they came with a synthetic fill, specifically Mobil-1. I did my initial change at ~1500 miles and am on a 3000-5000 mile interval depending on how much highway vs suburban mileage I accrue and I've been doing this for many, many years for my vehicles running synthetics.

Re: 11 WK First Oil Change Question

Conventional oil. Change it twice a year.
I drive 20k miles per year.
As long as you keep an eye on your oil and your engine and there is no cause for concern, why waste money?
