ps I use a dolly and think it weiighs less than 500 lbs. Does have surge brakes.

The dolly isn't much of an option for mean because the ground clearance on the tow vehicle is fairly low. The dolly would simply rip the front facia off.

I truly understand your position but as you said it would be a concern if it was on a daily basis, I do not expect to be towing on a daily basis. However, if towing turns out to be frequent I would force myself to look into purchasing a fully aluminum chassis trailer which will lighten up the load.

I only anticipate on hauling this load once or twice and the first haul will be in the coming week. On that trip I would say the driving condition would be 95% freeway driving. I understand the concern with the engine and transmission cooling but since it will be mainly freeway I believe the air velocity will sufficient enough to cool the engine. On most vehicle that travels on the freeway, the engine fan hardly kicks in because there is more than enough cool air flow that it doesn't need the fan. Secondly, once the trailer begins to move the momentum will simply pull the load along and less strain will be place on the drivetrain and powertrain. The torque is mainly needed at a start from a complete stop and inclination. The rest will just be momentum.

My concern was mainly would the truck struggle throughout the haul and whether the truck will have enough torque to pull the load. I realize that I am a tad bit over the capacity but as padgett said as long as I be gentle I should be okay.
Understanding the whole picture is important. Many people don't do the thinking on this, just load up and have no idea where they stand on weights. You are better off with the knowledge for sure.

I will be installing the hitch in a few hours and will do a test run, probably a 10-15 mile run on the freeway.

I just got the truck a few months ago. I never anticipated on towing, had I known this fact I would have just gotten a v8.
